Great product!
After our bathroom remodel, we noticed our new shower drain hole was too close to the floor joist and support to get a drain nut screwed onto the drain of the shower. I researched and found this drain and decided to give it a try. It was a HUGE life saver. The other drains wouldn't fit tight enough due to the joists. This one fit perfect on my fiberglass shower and I was able to get a tight seal to stop the leaking between the shower and floor. It was super easy to install with just a screw driver, although the silicone you have to use, stinks! I ordered the chrome and it's gorgeous. It has been installed for a few months now, with no issues at all. It seems to be holding up well!

Easy, cheap, effective shower drain replacement
This drain replacement is an incredible product! We recently discovered water outside of our basement bathroom whenever anyone took a shower. We talked to a plumber who had us test the drain first by pouring a 5 gallon bucket of water down the drain, waiting 20-30 minutes, and see if water appeared outside the bathroom. We confirmed that it was a leaky drain and the plumber told us we'd need to rip out the shower and start over. For $40, the WingTite shower drain seemed worth it to try first. Our drain looked different than what was shown in the WingTite videos, but I was able to remove it easily, cleaned off all the old sealant, sanded down the edges of the drain pipe, and the WingTite slid right on with no problem. We gave it a day for the silicone sealant to fully dry and have had NO leaking since. I highly recommend this product!!

Innovative!
This is a clever product that does exactly what it claims to do. It allows repair of a shower drain connection with no access to the underside. This connector can easily be installed entirely from the top.

Time and effort saver for sure!
This WingTite drain seems to be quality made. It saved my wore out body from having to crawl under my D/W mobile home to replace the original junky made drain. The old drain crumbled to pieces so removal was fairly easy. The WingTite requires 2” pvc or abs so I had to cut the original 1-1/2” abs pipe off with my inside pipe cutter enough to use a 1-1/2 to 2” reducer and ad a short piece of 2” pipe to get the correct length. It’s been installed for a couple weeks now and is working great. In my opinion this a great product.

Excellent Product
I installed a 48" Delta stand-up shower in my hallway bathroom for the first time. There was no shower in its place because the bathroom was, formerly, used as a half bath and laundry room (very odd combination indeed). I moved the washer and dryer into a new laundry room space I built in the basement and wanted a second full bathroom. Previously, I used other drain products that, without fail, allowed the water to pass around the drain and create a flooding issue even after using plumbers putty, silicone, and other products each time I attempted to remedy the leak-- no luck! Then, I decided to bite the bullet, pay the extra money for this drain product and have never had a leak since. The two best aspects about this drain (aside from no leaks) is: there is no collar to install on the backside of the drain to tighten it down! This immediately eliminates a fair amount of frustration with install. Also, the product comes with a professionally choreographed tutorial video that you can watch slowly and make the deliberate steps necessary to install correctly; this video is SO helpful for the D-I-Y plumber like myself.SIMPLIFIED INSTRUCTIONS: It is much easier to install than the previous drains I've used. There is just a few steps: First, apply silicone gel around the drain hole of the shower pan, and set this drain down into the hole of the shower pan. Then, tighten down the (4) adjustable STEEL (not plastic) "wings" on the side of the drain using a phillips head screwdriver. Lastly, the chrome plate fits directly on top to leave an aesthetically pleasing appearance (and cover the hole of course). The chrome plate doesn't need to be glued down and you probably shouldn't glue this down in the event you decide to replace the shower in the future.I hope this helps.

Works and that's the important thing..
The price was really a premium for this drain - roughly 4x the cost of a "standard" drain, but it worked and allowed replacing a leaking Oatey drain without tearing the house apart - so that trumps the expense. While installation was a "snap" - removing the old Oatey drain wasn't quite as simple as shown in the video and instruction sheet. I ended up having to make an opening in the old drain so I could cut the retaining nut off the drain assembly and get the old drain out. Be prepared for a bit of frustration in doing this if you have the Oatey drain like I had (their standard plastic model.)Installation of the new drain assembly was very simple, once I broke the "ears" free from the threads on the screws. It appears the manufacturer used a locking compound on the threads to make certain the ears would extend. Unfortunately I'm guessing they ran out of Blue (medium strength - #242) Loctite, and found they had some Red (permanent locking strength) laying around so they used that instead. It was quite difficult to break the thread free enough to actually allow tightening it, and I'm glad I did this before trying to install it. Hint to Lasco: You may want to check the thread locker you're using.. it's MUCH too strong.Other then that, and some noise now when I move around in the shower (I suspect caused by the O ring sliding/moving a bit on the PVC drain pipe), it works fine and looks fine. Sure beat pulling a ceiling down to get at the bottom of the shower pan.

Great replacement when you cannot access below the shower pan. Work as expected and easy to install. Recommended product to make your life easier. Dont hire a contractor who will cost you an arm and a leg. you can do it yourself !

Made Life Easier
Used this in a new shower pan in a new bathroom that is located in the basement. Was originally going to put a glue one in but reconsidered as future maintenance would have been a nightmare. This one seems to be doing a great job so far (almost a year) and installs/ removes from the top making it service friendly if it does fail and start leaking.

I could not be more impressed with this, saved me a big plumbing job, however anyone buying in thr uk will need to find a pipe reducer at a plumbers merchants to use it as it doesn't fit a uk standard waste pipe.

This works really well.
I had to replace a leaky $12 drain from Home Depot Canada. I bought this because it looked easy to install but it was expensive. I didn't hold out much hope. I spent most of the time cutting away the old pieces from the cheap drain so the PVC pipe was a bit rough on the outside surface. I followed the WingTite Shower Drain video and was worried about creating a good seal because the outside surface of the PVC pipe was roughed up. I tested it right away and it was not leaking. I let everyone in my house run the shower ALL WEEK with NO LEAK. I'm impressed. I would highly recommend this product as a replacement to a leaky cheap shower drain from Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks.

It works but cost to much
I replaced a new solid brass unit that I could not stop from leaking with wingtite. So far Wingtite works no leaks but it is a light peace of plastic and cost $80. There is ton of support videos 1800 number and clear instructions on there web site if there is any problems. Easy install from the top, pipe needs to half an inch from bottom of shower pan, soap gasket, silicone bottom and tighten 4 screws and good to go when silicone is cured.
