Blink Outdoor 4 XR – two-year battery wireless camera with 4x security coverage, 1000 ft open-air range or 400 ft with typical use — 2 camera system

I’ve been very happy with this camera system so far. The video quality is clear during both the day and at night, and the motion detection has been accurate without too many unnecessary alerts. Setup was straightforward, and the app makes it easy to check live footage or review recorded clips. One of the biggest advantages is the long battery life, which means less frequent charging. The wireless design also makes installation much easier since there’s no need to run power cables. Overall, this has been a dependable security camera system that offers good performance, easy installation, and convenient remote monitoring. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a simple wireless outdoor security solution.

We have had these since April and I still love them. They arrived with no damage to the box but we could not get two of them to work. Called blink customer service first and got a wonderful real live human being to walk me through the call. (That’s why we returned the Arlo cameras because everything was by computer no real live person). Blink said they were still covered by Amazon but if any issues to reach out to them again. Amazon quickly sent out the return shipping label, we returned the two that didn’t work and Amazon refunded the money. The blink system was easy to set up and works wonderfully out here in the middle of no where. Blink gets extra bonus points for having a real life agent you can call and speak to.

Get a different system or at least read this before you buy this one. We’ve had a blink setup for a few years. And well, it has issues (more on this later). We were thinking of getting a totally different system because of these issues but then after a little research thought we’d give this a try before having to start over and buy into something new. We recently got this package mainly for the sync module xr and hoping this and the updated cameras would solve at least some of the issues we’ve been having. It took way longer than it should have setting up the sync module xr and the first camera considering we already have a blink system. Then we couldn’t seem to get the second camera to sync to the module at all. Tried everything. New batteries, restarting everything multiple times, everything. After chatting with a bot and then two customer support people it was determined we were sent a defective camera and that they needed to send a replacement. Lovely. And apparently they are experiencing a longer than average turnaround time so it wont be shipped for 8 days and then who knows how long it will take to arrive. Even lovelier. We spent half a day messing around with this and still have another camera to deal with because they sent a defective one! Extremely annoyed. If we hadn’t already installed one of the cameras on the house we would have just returned the whole thing and gone with a different system after all. Because like I said in the beginning, the whole system has issues. We were hoping the sync module xr and new cameras would at least help with some of the lag issues we’ve always had with our blink setup on the exterior of our house (porch and garage). Basically, when get a notification from one of our cameras it takes far too long to load the live view when we go into the app to check it out. And no, it’s not a wifi issue. Other major issues we have with the blink system is that the cameras don’t always continue recording movement when they should or retrigger when they should (and that they take too long to retrigger in general). Imagine video of someone walking up the driveway and then the video just stops. Did they go up to the house? In the garage? Teleport? What happened? Another problem is that they can go off and online for no reason without sending you any notification so if you check the clips there can be huge gaps of even days long where you know video should be but there’s nothing, and then we’ve had to replace the batteries in each camera every few months which can be annoying and can get expensive. Imagine getting on a ladder in the middle of winter to replace batteries in a camera attached to the front of your garage. Not fun. Especially when these cameras are a huge pain to click back into the mount they provide with them after you replace the batteries. Huge pain. Does this system get the job done? Sure, kinda, sometimes. Do I trust that if something were to happen we would have the video we needed? Absolutely not. The new sync module xr has reduced the lag time by a hair but it’s barely discernible. You still might miss that person ringing the doorbell or dropping off a package. I wish we could return this. We are definitely not giving blink any more of our money.

Everyone I know has cameras in their homes, so when these came on a great sale on prime day, I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon. Mind you, I can hold my own, but am not all that tech savvy. This was VERY simple to set up. If you have more than one camera, you will need to purchase a sync module to connect them and that was an easy setup as well. Keep in mind where you will be placing these cameras and purchase the appropriate color that will make them less conspicuous. I purchased black not paying attention and I have them mounted on my white gutters. I used a little white paint to disguise them better, but you have to be careful, because you will cover up the motion detection if you do too much on the front! (Ask me how I know!) I’m too impatient to wait for an exchange so I winged it and found out the hard way. Thankfully., a little nail polish remover took the paint off the motion sensor and it works great. Depending on where you plan to mount the cameras, you may need to purchase two other things. An appropriate mounting station for your situation and a WIFI extender if they have poor connection where you place them. I’m still waiting for the doorbell to come as it was part of a prime day deal package, but so far I’m very pleased with the operation and set up. I can’t speak to battery life as I have only had them for about a month. The blink app keeps you updated on all of the cameras activities and functional features, as well as if something needs attention or can be improved by changing settings. Picture quality is pretty decent, but declines the further away you get, but I guess that’s to be expected with any camera. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and it gives me some extra peace of mind.

So far so good! This was purchased to replace a 10+ year old original Blink camera. It seems to be quicker with notifications. The picture seems to be the same as the original which I was hoping would be a little better. It is working with some older cameras and has no issues, although it does have a separate plug. The sound is definitely better. I did notice that the still picture is a bit clearer. I'm not a huge fan of the AI that comes with it, it is pretty close on descriptions but has turned a cat into a skunk and another into a lynx, fo figure. I won't keep the AI feature as it's not helpful for me. I'll install a chip in the plug in and won't pay the monthly fee.

I like the cameras. Decent pictures and pretty easy to use. The device for mounting the cameras needs rethinking. A couple of my cameras barely stay on. Have found one on the ground when it just fell off. They are pretty disappointing. The claim that the lithium batteries can last up to 2 years is a complete lie. They only last about 4-6 months if you actually use the cameras. These are expensive batteries and the only way you know they are dead is when a camera goes off-line and you replace them. The battery indicator is useless once the camera is off-line. One can use regular batteries but they go dead even quicker. There needs to be a better solution than lithium which is an environmental disaster to obtain. It is also pretty difficult to get a real customer service person to help troubleshoot anything. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on batteries with these devices.

Blink is the BEST. Now have 2 Blink systems with 15 cameras! This second one is the XT (extended range, up to 1700 feet). With this I have one camera about 900 feet and it works perfect. Blink has a limit of 10 cameras per sync module but you can have multiple sync modules on the same application on your phone making monitoring of more than 10 cameras very easy. Setup of second sync module is almost a no brainer then adding cameras to the second sync module is very simple. Not only is the Blink camera system excellent and reliable, the setup couldn't be easier. If I could give their system 10 stars I would.

Super easy set up, decent image in both day and night. Incredible adjustable. My issue is with nothing other than the app and subscription. You pretty much have to have a subscription. For work I have installed cameras in tons of houses, hotel and businesses, but this is the first wireless camera I have used, in that function they are great. It the app that gets me, you cannot see a live view of more than one camera at a time. The system automatically connect the views from different cameras in play back all into one video. This means that if there is motion going on in two areas being picked up by two different cameras, the feed from one of the cameras will be lost. It also skips around in the recording. Rather than record every second of motion, like most systems I have used, this only records a few seconds and then records a few seconds again after a preset time period (say 10 seconds). In other words, if a murder was happening in my front yard I may or may not catch the moment it happens. I may or may not have a real case in court against the murder. He may shoot in the time that it is recording or he may shoot in one of the intervals that it wasn’t recording.
