Focal DIMENSION 5-Channel Sound Bar

Needed to downsize. Replacing DefTek BP2000s, so was very concerned about what the sound quality would be like moving to a soundbar. While this is not the same as my old 5.1 set up and dual 15" subs, the Focal fits the need. The sound is fantastic for both movie and music. I don't even feel the need for adding the sub. The bass output from the unit is more than enough. Build quality is excellent. Setup was very easy. The only drawback is that once you turn off the TV, then return to watching later, you ALWAYS have to select input again. I wish it would retain last input used. Get this soundbar, you will not regret it.

Too keep this short and sweet the Focal Dimension soundbar is worth every penny! Excellent clarity at low and high volumes. Will fill a medium/large room with plenty of sound. The soundbar itself does produce some decent bass for a soundbar,much better than most Ive heard. If you are the type that loves deep bass then you will want to add a sub with it. Also nowadays the Focal comes with a new designed remote and the bluetooth transmitter saving you $100 there. Only con is I wish it could get a little bit louder,yes Id like to go deaf from listening to music and movies. Thinking about buying another for the bedroom.

Quality sound! Easy to use. Love it! The only negative is that we are unable to adjust the Bass level at all as per the instructions in the booklet.

Was a little difficult to set up. Is actually higher than the bottom of the Samsung TV so it hides the scroll on CNN across the bottom. And doesn't include bluetooth.

this sound bar sounds fantastic. thought id need the bass amplifier option but no,plenty of bass. have this under a 75" tv and it looks good too.

Ok let me start off by saying I am a focal person all the way. I love the brand and I believe they make the best Audio Equipment in the world. My car is all Focal and I also have the Focal XS2.1 computer speaker which sound awesome. I have been fantasizing of the dimension/sub sound bar combo for well over a month. So I went ahead and purchased the Focal Dimension and sub from Amazon. All I can say is I am really not that impressed with the sound of the bar. I just don't know it sounds good but not by any means blown away or "WOWED" especially not for $1599.99 and it made in CHINA which bad in my book . Because all of Focal Top tier items are all made France at the lab/warehouse. It's loud for sure and the whole thing is huge. Looks nice well built but I just think it sounds like a $300.00 sound bar with maybe a little more clarity and Bass. Focal Clams the dimension is true 5.1 sound but I think other wise.There just two thing that really did for me and this why I'm not impressed. One was when I had the sound bar hooked up to my TV though HDMI/ARC the sound was not sync at all. There was about 1 1/2 second delay from TV and Dimension. After trying to manual sync the sound for an hour I was still unable sync the sound. But you can use optical cable but then what's the point of the HDMI/ARC. Which I know is going to sound way better. Two is the price. I feel you can do a lot better buying a Some Focal Floor Speakers and hook them up to a receiver or amp receiver and have a way better sounding system. You options as to the sound bar at this price point. If you feel my reviews is wrong just remember this my options and thoughts.

I've no tried 3 soundbars; the focal dimension, the martin logan motion vision, and the B&W Panorama. I have to say the focal was excellent and definitely better at most things than the Martin Logan, but it does fall short of the Panorama 2.

Focal Dimension Soundbar is pretty Focal'esq. What you get is a large soundbar thats well built with some quirks that will drive you insane for a couple of days before you get it right. But once you get it right, the clarity, sound stage, accurate bass will fill a medium to large sized room with great sound.The Setup:Samsung Smart TV that all inputs are going to (via HDMI). Soundbar connected to TV via HDMI ARC. Why? If you have a Comcast remote or other Universal remote, you may not be able to find the code that can operate this sound bar. I had it plugged in via optical, but couldn't get my Samsung remote or Comcast remote to operate it. Using the HDMI ARC, I now can control power and volume with Comcast remote and TV remote. Save yourself hours of frustration and just use HDMI ARC.I purchased the Unit with the Sub and external BT adapter. The BT adapter needs to be powered by plug in, and I ran out of electrical ports to plug it in. The Sub is a little bit heavy (~30 lbs) and awkward to place on a mantle above a fireplace. It measures about 13" deep and my mantle is 13", so there was no place for the soundbar to sit. I had to get another mount for my TV that I could adjust and pull off the wall and fit the Sub right behind the TV. My 60" TV covers most of it, so it worked out well for me. The speaker outputs are on each side of the Sub and ports on the bottom. The 12" speaker wire they give you to connect the sub is funny. The good thing is the amp for the sub is located in the soundbar itself, so you don't have to plug in the sub to an electrical outlet. The bad thing is the connection is not user friendly at all. Maybe if you train a hamster to operate the buttons, then it would be easy. The + and - are too close together and hole for wire to go into is so small, this will frustrate you for 15 min just to get it in right. Also, have other speaker wire available as the 12" provided will most certainly not work if you set it up other than the soundbar right in front Sub.Once you have it setup, you'll have to play with the distance and placement settings that are manual and also frustrating to work with. This should have been something you can adjust via the GUI and remote. Also, the touch panel on the front was awful until I updated the firmware. Now the touch panel works without issue. But, some functions require use of the remote, so you'll have to keep the remote handy.Sound:I tried with just the soundbar (no sub) and it was good, but it needs a Sub to come alive. With the sub, it fills the room. The surround effect and how it should bounce off walls and recreate the effect of speakers behind you is marketing hype to a certain extent. While listening to some movies, I have noticed sounds appearing to come from way left or way right of the panel. I believe Focal's inverted tweeter causes the highs to appear larger without being brash or aggressive. It just sounds clear and spacious, helping to create a beautiful soundstage. I now notice the difference of space with TV programs. If the studio is large where the shot is being filmed, you can hear the difference vs it being in a small room. Something I didn't notice with my Samsung soundbar or any other TV I have.I would give it 4 out of 5 stars, but considering this is a soundbar, its 5 out of 5 stars. This has to be the best sounding soundbar I've heard. I am also biased as I have Focal floorstanding speakers in my theater room. But, I'm also a diet audiophile and have heard systems in the hundreds of thousands. Focal shines with its highs and mids. This soundbar does not disappoint in sound, but in functionality and setting it up, it will drive you just a little crazy.

Fattura della soundbar molto buona, però veramente ingombrante e alta, appoggiata davati alla tv copre sicuramente la parte bassa di qualsiasi schermo. Il suono è buono ma non tanto da giustificare il prezzo esorbitante, molti alti, suono leggermente aspro. Così così con la musica. Volume in abbondanza, ma senza la precisione che un prodotto di questa fascia richiederebbe.Fatto confronto con bose 700, la quale vince a mani basse per un suono sicuramente più appagante e coerente. Vince bose anche per l'ampiezza del palcoscenico e per la tridimensionalità del suono!

Very impressed with the sound quality of this sound bar - I own the B&W Panorama 2 with sub woofer and while the focal isn't quite as good, its actually still very impressive , especially for the price - £600? My Panorama 2 kit cost me closer to £3k! Lose a bit of bass, but the sound quality is very good and it mounts neatly on the wall under the tv without a problem.

Einmal kurz was zu mir:ich bin mit Sicherheit kein Audiophiler, doch bedeutet mir guter Klang sehr viel und da ich Privat im Verkauf arbeite, spezialisiert auf Hifi, hoffe ich hierzu "nützlichen Senf" abgeben zu können.Zur Vorgeschichte: Aus meiner Arbeit kenne ich die Geräte von Yamaha (YSP-4100 und YSP-5100), die ich klanglich als gut empfinde. Eines dieser Geräte wollte ich mir schon immer mal anschaffen. Doch, leider, als es soweit war, wurden diese aus dem Programm genommen und ich konnte keines dieser Geräte in der Arbeit bestellen. Nun suchte ich nach Alternativen, unabhängig vom Raumklang (sowie die oben beschriebenen Geräte die 5.1 sowie 7.1 (echtes!) beherrschen) ging es mir einzig um den Klang.Nach kurzem "rumgesuche" hier auf Amazon bin ich dann auf diese Focal Dimension gestoßen. Der Name Focal ist mir persönlich aus dem High-End Car-Audio Bereich bekannt. Diese Tatsache sowie die Bewertungen zwangen mich quasi zu einem Kauf dieses Produktes.Lieferung und Verpackung Einwandfrei.Die Soundbar selbst ist folgendermaßen zu bewerten:Der Klang ist im vergleich zu den Yamaha Geräten nochmals einen hauch feiner, ich würde ihn sogar als wärmer bezeichnen. Wie in anderen Rezessionen schon beschrieben, erzeugt die Dimension erstaunlich viel Bass (für diese größe) ohne überfordert zu wirken (in kleinen räumen bis ca. 20-30 qm ausreichend, in größeren Räumen würde ich hier einen zusätzlichen Subwoofer empfehlen.) Die Soundbar ist mit Sicherheit für niemanden geeignet der ansonsten nur Standlautsprecher in Verbindung mit einem Paar guter Standlautsprecher nutzt. ( Z.b. Canton 509.2) da bei den Canton die höhen nochmals präziser und schöner sind. Wer aber alles kompakt halten möchte, ist diese Soundbar mit Sicherheit eine Super Wahl.Zu den Anschlüssen: Die Soundbar verfügt über 2 HDMI Eingänge, welche mir persönlich auch gänzlich ausreichen da ich hier lediglich eine PS4 betreibe. Die Restlichen Anschlüsse sind aktuell nicht in Nutzung, sollte sich dahingehend was ändern, so werde ich die Rezession aktualisieren.Das Schlusswort: Wer wenig platz hat (evtl. auf einen Subwoofer verzichten möchte), sich aber nicht allzu sehr auf guten Klang verzichten möchte, bekommt hier ein absolut gutes Produkt zu einem fairen Preis.
