excell EX-17/2P Excell EX-17 Steel Desk Top Tape Dispenser: 2" wide /padded foam base, Blue/Grey

I ship many packages that are too small to use most tape guns as they are for large boxes. It is awkward to remove a small length of tape due to their design, some needing pressure on a tape to expose the cutting edge. This tape dispenser 'fills the bill' for one that easily allows smaller lengths of tape to be cut. It has enough weight to hold it in place while doing so and even has a blade guard you can fold down for safe storage.

I bought these for the lab at work. We had been using 3M dispensers and after many years the blades had began to dull and the plastic body of the dispensers had developed layers upon layers of contaminants. My boss complained in passing of the cost of the 3M dispensers and lack of options to replace it, so I set out to find a suitable replacement.This tape dispensers was the ticket! It has a nice metal body for easier cleaning. It has a blade guard and (very) sharp blades. It has a nice weight to it and handles all but the stickiest of our tapes. The base is nice and generates enough friction. Our technicians preferred these to the older tape dispensers.

I could tell that this product was just what I needed before I purchased it. The description and pictures made it clear to me that this item is what I was looking for. When I have received it, my expectations were exactly correct. The quality of manufacture is evident to me. I wanted a weighted tabletop (desktop) tape dispenser similar to the one they make for the narrower cellophane tape. However, I wanted the two inch width. It's perfect. It even has a flip up plastic cover for the blade to reduce the possibility of accidental injury. It can also be used for two one-inch tape rolls simultaneously.

If you use quality tape this thing is a dream, and if you use cheap tape to save money this dispenser makes it less of a headache. It just isnt as smooth with the budget tape. I use this for attaching my shipping labels because I am too cheap to buy the adhesive thermal labels. Works great, strong double sided tape will secure it to a workbench or desk.

The cutter on this is very sharp. Good thing it has a cover. Usually stays put with most tapes. Works well. Glad I purchased, we've used it a lot!!

This review is for the Excell EX-17 Steel Desk Top Tape Dispenser: 2 Inches Wide (Blue Grey) / Padded Foam Underside. O.K. then: When two hands are necessary to draw and sheer wide tape, who can hold on to the dispenser without having to bolt it place? I like the idea this dispenser is heavy enough to be portable and stay in place on the floor, on a table top, or on a shelf. No more three hands required. "Hey Fred! Hold this dispenser while I draw a length of tape." We all know that when the tape breaks away from the sheer teeth, it invariably curls and sticks to itself. Silly you. This is invariably due to the dispenser moving or even flying off the shelf or table. Cheap plastic dispensers will never ever grow you that third hand Fred. So little things you use all the time like this are so much better with time you'll wonder why you ever put up with all the others you have had all your life.

Better than using a tape gun for more static parcels. Safety cover us very useful.
