I’ve been through my fair share of routers over the years, and I have to say the Amazon eero Outdoor WiFi 7 has been a really pleasant surprise. I was a little hesitant at first because outdoor networking equipment can be hit or miss, but this one has exceeded my expectations. First off, the setup was incredibly easy. I’m pretty tech savvy but I’ve definitely dealt with routers in the past that made me want to pull my hair out with complicated configuration screens and confusing instructions. Not this one. The eero app walked me through everything step by step and I had it up and running in maybe 15 minutes. No digging through manuals, no googling error codes, just a smooth process from start to finish. I really appreciated that. The build quality feels solid. You can tell this thing is meant to be outside. It’s got a nice heft to it and the housing feels like it can handle whatever weather comes its way. We get a lot of rain here in Florida and I’ve had it installed for a few weeks now with no issues whatsoever. No moisture problems, no overheating, nothing. It just sits there and does its job. Performance has been rock solid. I mainly got this to extend coverage out to my backyard and garage area where my old setup was really struggling. Before, I’d be lucky to get one or two bars on my phone when I was out by the patio, and streaming anything was basically impossible. Now I’m getting full signal strength pretty much everywhere on my property. I can work from my back porch, the kids can use their tablets outside, and I’ve even got solid coverage out in the garage now which is great for when I’m working on projects out there and want to throw on some music or a podcast. WiFi 7 is definitely a step up if you haven’t upgraded in a while. Everything just feels faster and more responsive. I notice it most when multiple people are doing different things at once. Before, if someone was streaming a movie while someone else was on a video call and another person was gaming, things would get choppy. Now it handles all of that without breaking a sweat. I’m not going to pretend I understand all the technical stuff behind it, but whatever they’re doing under the hood is working. The mesh integration with my other eero devices inside the house was seamless too. It all just works together as one network so I’m not juggling different SSIDs or dealing with dead zones as I move around. My phone switches between nodes automatically and I never notice any dropoffs or lag when it happens. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the price is a little steep, but honestly for outdoor rated equipment with this kind of performance, it’s probably in line with what you’d expect. And considering how frustrating bad wifi can be, I’d rather just spend the money once and have something that works reliably than cheap out and end up replacing it in a year. Overall I’m really happy with this purchase. It solved the exact problem I bought it for, setup was painless, and it’s been working flawlessly since day one. The eero Outdoor 7 was very easy to set up and integrated seamlessly with an existing eero network. Setup through the app was straightforward, and within minutes, the outdoor coverage improved significantly. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid, well-designed, and clearly built to handle outdoor conditions. The IP66 weatherproof rating provides confidence that it will withstand rain, heat, and cold without issues. Performance has been impressive. WiFi coverage extended well into the yard and outdoor areas where the signal was previously weak or inconsistent. Speeds remained strong and stable, which makes a noticeable difference for streaming, cameras, and general connectivity outdoors. Another big advantage is that devices transition smoothly between indoor and outdoor nodes without drops or lag. It truly feels like a natural extension of the existing mesh network. Overall, the eero Outdoor 7 delivers exactly what it promises, reliable outdoor coverage, strong performance, and easy integration. I have the outdoor unit mounted about 20 feet up on a tv antenna. The property is out in the woods and I use it with starlink. Going through the woods I get a good 200 ft. The driveway (which is unobstructed) is about 100 yards. I get service all the way to the road, I didn’t check further, that was good enough. There is also a cabin and a garage about 50-75 feet away that I now get strong coverage throughout that I didn’t get before the eero. I have a few cameras up but I’m limited by electrical hook up, now this frees me to add some solar video cameras. This is exactly what I was looking for. Now they need to make an outdoor unit that runs on solar so I can extend even further. It’s been about a month and it has been 100% reliable and with distance speed will drop but surprisingly not much. I already ordered an echo for the garage and am going to put a smart tv in the cabin.

I live on a 3/4 acre property with main house in front(made of brick) and a large metal work shop in back of property. Metal work shop was a dead zone for WiFi or cell service. Did a little research on what could be done and chose to go this route. More expensive than others but definitely worth it. Install was simple and fast. I set up 3 indoor eeros and 2 outdoor eeros (back patio which then connected to work shop) in less than 30 mins. My entire property has WiFi now. I didn’t think it was going to work this well. So glad I went this route. Inside eeros are pushing out 857 download mbps/ 949 upload mbps. Back of property workshop eero is pushing out 496 download/ 260 upload. Definitely recommend.

The POE power supply does not have a pass through, so if you use the supplied power supply you have to connect via Wifi which may be fine for some, my device was located far from existing Eero max 7. I had to use another POE router to power it and send data via the same connection. I wish it had 1 external port to be able to add another wired device from it. It was installed today and I got blazing fast speed but remember it is hardwired to a POE gigabit router.

But for seamless integration and rock-solid outdoor connectivity, it’s tough to beat. I use it to connect my WiFi security cameras and I am able to have a solid connection with this system. I can also stream movies, sports games and TV shows on our patio and in the garage now. Initial Eero outdoor 7 experienced an issue that caused it to stop working after ~6-weeks. Amazon (not Eero product support, but general Amazon helpline) was initially difficult to work with; however, the Eero support has been top notch (so far) and they sent a replacement (with a few delays likely due to a holiday). While initially frustrated at the Amazon general helpline, Eero products generally exceed my expectations (for the cost) and I have been happy with Eero support working through this issue. The outdoor Eero 7 feels very well built and well designed. Direct line of sight coverage may leave some room for improvements, but it does not under perform their product specifications (under performs some other reviews I read). I remain a big supporter of Eero products for home networking.

Every thing Eero stated this would allow you to have enternet outside my home. I went through all the requirements of setup as per instructions. I took the the time to try more than 3 different locations outside my home. 1: I had only had 2 items that showed that was connected to eero outside side unit. 2: different location nothing showed as being connected. 3: different location nothing showed as being connected to the eero unit. As much as I wanted this unit to solve my connection problem for my outside POE outside security cameras, which I have 5 different security cameras. I even allow myself keeping the unit for several extra days from the time I received it until I returned the eero unit to Amazon. I have my doubts that Eero did enough testing before they released the unit to be purchased. What I thought they would have considered is the outside unit would have extra places where you could connect other devices directly into the outside unit. I have the Eero pro Max 7 installed inside my home as well as eero pro 6e units throughout my home because of the square footage of my house as well my home is 3 story home. I think they should also designed the eero outside unit should had the option of just a power supply and not a RJ54 cable power connection. If the developer decides to go back to the drawing board and create the outside unit in many features and options as the Eero pro Max 7 has, then I believe customers will be likely purchase this outside unit. I placed the pre-order and October 23, 2024. I returned the item before the 21 first of November 2024, and now Eero is just now sending me an email saying that I should receive my refund by December 13th 2024. It didn't take Eero that long to withdraw the funds for my bank to pay for it before it was shipped. And I had been giving 3 different dates for the refund. They received the return by the 29th of November. Now it takes eero according to my work days, it right at 13 days to receive my refund
