Great Army Jacket, with that Lived-In Look
This is a Rothco version of the iconic Military Standard Field Coat, 1965, worn by DeNiro in "Taxi Driver", Schwarzenegger in "Terminator", and Stallone in "Rambo". When someone says "Old Army Jacket", this is the one they mean! Versions of the M65 patterned in camouflage were issued to solders well into 2000's. This jacket can accept a removable button-in cold weather liner (sold separately). I have been wearing an original M65 since High School days (1970s) and need to replace my tattered old friend. This "Vintage" version is made of stonewashed 100% cotton, (instead of cotton/nylon) which makes it VERY COMFORTABLE. They also reduced the size of the massive front pockets and added an (easily removable) velcroed-on ROTHCO logo. But the best thing about this jacket is that it fits and feels like the original. I am 6'1", 240lbs, and usually wear an XL. This jacket fits me perfectly in L. I don't need the liner, I just wear a thin zippered hoodie underneath on cold days. The M65 does not have hand warmer pockets, it is meant to be worn with gloves. For me, this jacket is a perfect replacement for my old friend, perfect for bumming around. Choose wisely, there are a lot of M65 Jackets out there, all slightly different.

Rothco Vintage M-65 Field Jacket
This description comments the line, -- not sent with the coat. The quality is marginal. I have a US Surplus to compare to; and it's not the same. I have another makers offering to compare to; and it's not the same (Knox Armory, which does not seem offered anymore). As far as sizing goes with this one, and in comparison to the others I've owned, -- they do not run large, or this one did not. Knowing this one is 100% cotton and that it may shrink, I actually bought one size up, and I know it will be fine. Yes it is slightly large now, but as it is worn, the sleeves will pull up as they do when you wear them, the arm bending creases, and again, it will shrink. Also the sleeves being a tad long for me are not an issue since want my wrist covered when cold, overlapping my gloves and if warmer they easily fold under, inside and stay, they just do likely due to the already folded flap, -- how it works for me.Yes, the Zipper in this is the correct Right Hand pull and "heavier" brass, but the pull tang is light duty and you will need to be careful, petroleum jelly it till loosesns up a bit, wears in, --it's a bit bindy and not a fine zipper. If you like the M-65 and based upon what's currently available, and the polyester blend looks, feels different, this is the only choice I am aware of, so kinda "stuck" unless get lucky with a real US surplus; not likely. I don't get why they don't just make'em to full spec and be done with it so we know how to buy them and what we're getting. Oh well.I'd say, be prepared to send it back since, who knows for sure. And, the colors are mislabled. That has happened to me, where the Brown was even Tagged as Brown, but was the Olive Drap, Green! So the "QA" is iffy.Again, if you think if you in the past ordered a 2x and will be "big", -- no, not my experience. Again, since this version is 100% cotton, if you like it to be more fitted and don'e wear the liner (not sent though is in the description), nor wear a Sweater, -- then order as you used to. Otherwise, one size up as it was this time for me.The price points are now getting rediculous, so at over a C-note, not worth it. Then, hunt down a genuine surplus if even possible any more.

Excellent Quality...But Runs A Size Larger
Great tactical field jacket. Seems to be of excellent quality and very comfortable. Heavy construction and with the liner (sold separately) is nice and warm on a chilly day.I would have given it a 5 Star rating, but the company does not state that the Rothco brand size runs large. My wife bought me one for Christmas but the 3 XL was way too big. The company she ordered it from was sold out so I purchased this one through Amazon (Amry Universe) and ordered a 2 XL which is a perfect fit. Just remember to order a size smaller than what you normally wear and you will be good. Would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a nice military style jacket for everyday wear, work, or hunting.

" This coat is beautiful: just like my old green
My previous M-65 (from some Army Surplus store) has lasted me over 30 winters but is looking a bit tatty these days--still usable but not quite "wife approved." This coat is beautiful: just like my old green, army jacket but in an elegant black, with the same wide, brass zipper, the same snaps, the same hood, and the same buttons inside to accommodate my old coat liner! I am massively pleased with this purchase! I'd buy another one for a spare but have a feeling this one will outlive me this time around! <Laughs!> Only other thing: Yes, everyone who says this runs big is correct! I take an XL (5' 8", about 215 lb.) but the Large fits me with room to spare WITH the liner in it. FANTASTIC! Great quality build and absolutely no regrets over having my old coat so perfectly replaced.

A bit disappointed
A bit disappointed. With over a dozen M65 field jackets from different makers listed on Amazon, including my prefered Alpha, I chose the Rothco on the strength of the listing (the fuller listing available on my desktop, not on the mobile version) stating that the jacket's shell was "100% cotton", which I absolutely prefer. Was surprised and delighted to find one in cotton. It came in, I checked the description/laundring label, and it'a cotton/poly mix (55/45, I believe). Also, it's cut slightly differently from the old OG107 field jacket I relied upon in the Army. That said, the size was true, the cut is excellent, and, after washing it a couple of times to "break it in" for wear, it didn't really have that slick cotton/poly, synthetic feel. Although rather particular about fabric and feel, it's comfortable and handy...just as the field jackets I'm used to. BONUS: it had the field jacket liner in it. So, not as advertised, but still a good garment. May have to come back for an Alpha Industries M65 jacket later. A dollar or so cheaper for my size, and I've never had a bad Alpha product...and their listing outright states that their M65 is made of nylon/cotton (NYCO)...so, no surprises.

ordered this jacket in medium, turns out that rothco ...
ordered this jacket in medium, turns out that rothco thinks Extra large is medium. The jacket is of decent quality, my only issue with this jacket is the sizing. Order at least one size smaller than you normally wear.

Nice jacket
Classic style, well made jacket.Fits a little large if not using a liner(not included) but the built in hood and deep pockets are great.
