We love Yorkshire Gold but I decided to try Red for the savings. It is absolutely worth it. Yorkshire Red is stronger than Yorkshire Gold, which I wouldn't usually prefer. But if you just steep it for less time, the flavor profiles are similar. This is great for me since I'm an impatient tea steeper anyway.Or you could probably get the same flavor effect by doing a regular steep on a whole teapot with just one tea bag, rather than using one bag per mug of tea.Maybe there's a flavor difference if you squint--Yorkshire Gold seems a tiny bit more floral, but I could be imagining it. I'll have to try Gold again next time to really be sure.Bottom line, Yorkshire Red is my new go-to for daily tea. It steeps faster and is about half the price.

I have enjoyed this tea for about fifeteen years. It was introduced to me by a tea shop owned by a Ms. Gray originally from London, England. She was a child there during the second world war. She was moved to the country side during the war because of the bombing of London. After thae war she moved to the United Staes settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I never questioned her about her reason to move here but suspect it was because of her marriage to an American soldier while he was in England. Ms. Gray and her daughter ran a tea shop in Bay View, an area on the south side of Milwakee. For a reason unknown to me she moved her business to Waukesha, a small city about twenty miles west of Miwaukee. Her new shop was located in the heart of Waukesha and drew many people. I moved to Waukesha in nineteen eighty and was introduced to the new shop by my wife. We then enjoyed breakfast there almost evey Saturday morning.My paternal grandmother was originally from London, having moved to Milwaukee at the age of seven, with her mother and her father, an engineer, who was sent to a new engineering office in Milwaukee by his employer in England in eighteen eighty two. She spoke to me at quite length about her childhood in England and Milwaukee. As a result I developed a kinship to the English people.One morning at the tea shop Ms. Gray sat down at my table and we discussed our past and other things. I then learned that Ms. Gray's grandfather had started the Gray's Pottery Company in England. My wife was a collector of English Children's Plates, epescially those from Gray's Pottery. We all became quite good friends, having a number of things in common.The tea Ms. Gray served as her "House Tea" was what she called Yorkshire Red, the very tea that I am speaking of here. It is a rather full bodied tea, often replacing coffee in many people's breakfasts. Taylors of Harrogate recommends the use of sugar and cream or milk in this coffee, the same way that I prefer it.The tea shop was closed in the late nineteen ninety due to the hard work required to make all the items the tea shop sold. These included skones and other baked items along with the breakfast staples served by Ms. Gray and her daughter. Yet Yorkshire Red remains my favorite beverage for breakfast. I have never lost my taste for it and probably never will. It has become an old friend of mine bringing back to me many fond memories. I'm a tea drinker. The first thing I do when I wake up is go put the kettle on for a cuppa.I've been drinking tea since I can remeber, I suppose it's my British culture(born & raised) and I feel I'm am a self proclaimed authority on a good cuppa-tea and obviously a tea snob.I'll admit I didn't always drink Yorkshire (pronouced york- sha). I drank PG and Tetleys for the longest time but my siblings came to visit me here in the US many years ago and brought with them their tea... So they would have some home comfort. So I tried it...ohhh the flavour! Such a lovely brew. Now don't get me wrong PG tips and Tetleys are good but Yorkshire is just just superb!I look forward to have a nice cup of this brew.Now because of the pandemic I didn't want to have to go to another store to go get my tea, my usual Trader Joes does not carry it so ordering through Amazon was saving me having to go out again...less contact.It came in two days and the price was little better than what I normally would pay at the grocery store.So yes of course order this tea because it's f%#king fabulous!!!!Btw tips on tea for those of you heathen non tea drinkers. Please use boiling hot water...heating water in the microwave is just sacrilegious! Tea needs the boiling water to unlock all that lovely flavour. I fill my cup...notice I didn't say mug *shudder, to 3/4 of the way with the boiling water then add a tea spoon of sugar, let it sit for a good minute or two, any longer then it becomes bitter, then squeeze your tea bag to the inside of the cup with your spoon and dispose of your tea bag(old tea bags are good for rose bushes) add milk and give it a good stir...then sit down put your feet up and enjoy.All in that order may I add.So go order this bloody tea!!!Hooray for Yorkshire tea!!!!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
