These come in a number of sizes and are well worth having around for portioning cookie dough, dumpling fillings and biscuit dough among other things.

Used for making uniform size cookies which works well. However, the spring repeatedly catches when used. While maneuvering the handle helps, the wrist becomes sore after dropping a few dozen cookies on the sheet.

This is the perfect size scoop for cookies. I also use it to fill cupcake tins. One of most useful kitchen items I own.

The scoop is as described. It is a #20 and 18-8 stainless. But surprisingly poor quality from Vollrath. Good for soft foods but NOT sturdy enough for cookie dough. Mine broke both times I tried to scope out cookie dough (biscottis, molasses cookies). I had to weld it back together both times. Once at the joint where the scraper is attached to the rotating rod and once where the stamped handle has a split where it meets the hinge. I also had to do some metalwork on the rack and holder of the rack & pinion gear system`

This seems to be designed more sturdy than similar looking dishers. The action works smoothly. I particularly like how the spring is designed to fit within the shape of the two handles rather that operate perpendicular between them, making it less likely anything could get caught on it and pull it out.

The metal piece that fits inside is not tight enough and slips past the bowl of the scoop. When squeezing to utilize the handle feels cheap and loose.
