Yamaha KX 393 Black Cassette Deck

I purchased the Yamaha KX-393 tape deck used and in very good condition from "Martel Germany". I rarely like to buy anything unseen second hand, but this was an excellent buy.The tape deck arrived much earlier than expected and was extremely well packaged. Once opened, the deck looked immaculate! It looked brand new. I couldn't see any signs of wear and tear at all. The package also included a plug and an RCA (phono) cable.I already own a Yamaha KX 580 SE tape deck, and was happy to notice its remote worked with this deck too! Once connected to my hi-fi, I inserted a BASF Chrome cassette, on which I'd recorded some Pat Metheny LPs many years ago. By the way, blank cassettes are rare and very expensive these days, but I think you can still buy TDK SA tapes. Gone are the days when you could buy a pack of 5 for a few quid.I have a good hi-fi, and this 20 + yr old cassette deck sounded wonderful. I prefer to leave Dolby off, and it's great to hear the pops and scratches from recorded LPs. There was very little tape hiss and sound quality was crisp and well balanced reproduction. As I have hundreds of cassettes, I will enjoy going through them. I'm also glad I transferred my LPs onto cassettes all those years ago!One more thing; if you want to transfer audio from this deck onto a computer, you can simply connect it via the tape deck's OUTPUT (at the rear). You will obviously need the appropriate interconnect. The deck also has a headphone output.Once I live with this cassette deck for a while I may add additional info.Overall, this was an excellent buy and I would strongly recommend the seller, "Martel Germany". Arrived today as per the product description. Couple of minor scratches on the case as described, but the most important thing is that it works and plugged into my Ruark it's making a wonderful sound playing my old tapes. Open Up by Leftfield in this case! 😁 Well worth the money. Would have been nice to have the user manual, but got that off the Internet. All good. Go on treat yourself to a cassette player, you know you want to.

well done stockist.What a find,such an attractive,clean sounding and wonderful replacement for the jammed up Sony that clapped out in the middle of my funny old 2 tape deck rig,with amp and CD and double speakers(TV & DVD sound pumped through speakers also)Tape cleaner and blank tape and new belts a really good deal!Cheaper than my original purchase 12 odd years back,from a Kent Sony Store that no longer exists.

My Yamaha Stereo Cassette Deck(KX-393) finally gave up the ghost on recording after 20+ years of sterling service.I was lucky enough to find a 'like new' replacement via Amazon marketplace and hope it will provide me with several more years of recording jazz from the radio.I'd recommend this excellent but hard-to-find cassette deck to anyone among that dwindling band of tape enthusiasts.

Arrived on time and very well package. The item was as describe. no a marks on it. A little service was need to the heads but that's to be expected. Highly recommend .

Very disappointed , it played one tape and then the next one played for two seconds and stopped ,chewing the tape ribbon , and the next and the next and the next.............Returned the item and received an E-mail containing two pictures ... one of the stickers covering the back plates -showing the stickers were torn and another picture of the rollers via the open door......and offered me half the cost refund (not even the return postage)....................I felt "bullied" into accepting the money offered , ....... I had not opened the casing and the stickers were perfect when I sent it back !!....and they accused me of replacing the "New refurbished" rubber pinch roller with an old damaged one (where on earth I could have obtained an old wheel from is beyond my imagination------ ) ...... both accusations I VEHEMENTLY DENY !!....... I bought the deck in good faith and was ripped off ..this post will not be up for long I guarantee.............if I realized that they would cheat me I would have taken a picture of the stickers prior to returning - and as for me replacing the pinch roller , it's totally ridiculous........cheapskates.
