Black Lava gel: great for what it is, but didn't give the texture I'd hoped for.
I ordered this expecting something like a product I've used a few times at school (same name, different brand) that has tiny bits of ground lava rock mixed in with the gel base. The additive in this is more like black hexagonal glitter. I definitely should have read the description more closely, but I also feel like "lava" gel is a bit of a misnomer.

I like a lot of Liquitex products especially their mediums. This item was not available locally and the multicolored effects will be interesting and unusual. All Liquitex mediums can be mixed with soft body or heavy weight acrylics also by Liquitex. I would recommend this item to those who like texture and interesting effects for their art projects. Crafters and mixed media artists would appreciate this item.

This stuff is cool but...
I used this Black Lava texture with a clear gloss to add texture. It came out GREAT...until I turned on an overhead light and all of a sudden I have glitter all over the canvas. Kinda cool for my use--I didn't care--but something you should be aware of. This tiny little flecks of lava reflect light if hit just right.

I liked everything about this- do practice with it first though- to dive into a piece using it when you've never used it before- well, it's better if you know what to expect- it's absolutely fantastic!

More like a Rocky beach.
Liquitex is a really good brand, and it shipped on time with no problems with the seller.It dries in a grey/white.I've had it for a year now and it still works, the effect is kind like smaller bubbly look, I wouldn't call it lava as much as I would call it sandy or a rocky beach.
