Helium NAS Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, Mesh Panel, 4X 140mm PWM Fan, Ideal for DIY NAS, Media Servers, or Small Business Applications

The Rosewill Helium NAS case has been a great fit for my home server build. Out of the box the build quality stood out right away. It feels solid and well put together but is surprisingly light for a steel case, which makes it easier to move around during the build process. Airflow is excellent thanks to the mesh front panel and the four included 140mm PWM fans. Having that many fans included from the start is a nice touch since you do not have to budget for additional cooling right away. Temperatures have stayed in check even with multiple drives spinning and the system under load. The interior layout is clearly designed with NAS and home server use in mind. Drive mounting is straightforward and there is plenty of room to work without fighting cables or cramped corners. Cable management options are reasonable and help keep airflow paths clear. Even my 360 AIO fit with zero drama. I did not run into any quality control issues during the build. Panels lined up properly, screws threaded cleanly, and everything felt finished. That kind of attention to detail makes a real difference when you are spending time inside the case. For anyone planning a DIY NAS, media server, or small business box, this case checks the important boxes without trying to be flashy. Rosewill clearly thought about what matters for this kind of build, and it shows in the final product.

Bought to use as a NAS (network attached storage) server. Already installed several drives and it works pretty well for that. You can place two drives in each drive cage, and there are 5 drive cages. Also room for SSDs on the back side of the case too. The drives need to be screwed into the drive cages, but not a big deal since drives tend to last for years so there is no need to move them around too often. The case looks good and the materials/build are nice quality. Fans are PWM, work quietly and keep the drives below about 32 degrees celsius in an upstairs office. The case has cutouts with mesh dust filter on the top and cutouts for airflow on both sides of the case. Right side of case has cutouts for the hard drives, and left side has cutouts for hard drives as well as motherboard/CPU area. This helps with air flow, but the noise is also not too loud. I have the fans set to a normal fan curve in the BIOS so they ramp up as needed in case CPU heats up. Did overnight burn-in test and temperatures didn’t spike. I wish the back panel had more space for cable storage/management, as after placing several hard drives in the case there are SATA cables and power cables galore that need to be stowed. I had to place the case on its side to lay the right (back) panel on to get it to lock and secure. If I had done a much better job with cable management perhaps that wouldn’t have been as challenging. My most important requirement (drive storage) is satisfied so I will not let it bother me too much. The motherboard I used (Gigabyte ATX) has edge-mounted SATA ports that require SATA cables to be plugged in horizontally, from the right side (terrible design) on the right side of the motherboard, so I have very little room to plug in SATA cables and still route the cables through the cutout to the back of the case (to plug in the drives). Not the case’s fault but just something to be aware of. I had to buy some 90 degree right-angle SATA cables to clean up the cable routing and reduce the stress placed on the SATA port connections on the motherboard. Like every case I’ve ever bought, the instructions that came with this one were very minimal. Took a bit of study to figure out how to remove the drive cages so I could install the drives, but the manual is OK. It would be better if it had more details and instruction. Overall very pleased with this case. The only bummer is it went on sale for $10 less about a week after I bought it! I missed that sale but I do think it’s still worth the price I paid. With everything placed in the case it looks very good, sounds quiet and I am confident it will last for years.

Solid case for a NAS. The fans are not bad for noise overall. The design on the HDD bays are overall good but I was missing a couple screws (had some spares on hand). Overall the space in the case was good and made the set up easy. I'd recommend this case to anyone because you also remove the drive bays to repurpose this as a case for a gaming computer if needed. The only gripe I have is the card slots need to be permanently removed because they are break away. So if you remove a card, you will just have a hole there. A small word of advice. Make sure your remove the break away slot covers from the case before installing the mobo. I ran into a issue with removing them after having the mobo installed because the mobo was covering enough of the card slot to make it harder to remove the break away metal covering it.

After installing my motherboard, drives, and gpu I went to install the PSU and below where it fits in was bent and didn’t allow me to fit it in properly. I was extremely disappointed with that but the idea of this case is great the build quality is just not great. I was going to return it but waited 2-3ish weeks for it and didn’t want to wait longer so I put up with it

I purchased this case for a NAS upgrade. It’s hard to find a case with ample drive capacity. For the price, it has worked out extremely well. It has ample airflow and the provided fans have kept the temps down. This was a little larger than expected, but is worth it.

You definitely get what you pay for and I didn’t pay for much. The case itself is nice, the layout is good and it holds a lot of drives. The airflow is also quite good. However, the metal the case is made of is quite thin and flexes when I put mild pressure on it, the screw holes were often off by a few millimeters for the drive cages, and the finish on the case’s metal scratches off easily. But it can hold 10 hard drives, which is what I needed it for. I wouldn’t recommend it as a personal PC case but it works well if you don’t want to shell out for JBOD enclosures.

Helium Nas - Great case with easy wiring throughout. Typical issue was that the screws were overtightened (especially the bottom HDD bay by the PSU). Fans speeds max around 1500 rpm. Quiet but underpowered for heavy loads and how the bays block the intake. The most significant issue is that this will not fit a 56mm GPU and keep the bottom HDD bay. If they optimized the spacing, they could fit both a 2.5 bay GPU and the bottom HDD bay. Or provide a 1 bay cage accessory. Case would 5 stars if the bottom HDD bay had more mounting points closer to the PSU, better spacing of the HDD bays in general, and bottom HDDs should have opening so you can see the HDD serial numbers (no reason why this space isn't completely open like above).

Loads of drive bays, excellent ventilation and lots of room to route cables. Does it make for a sexy gaming rig? No. But it's perfect to stuff full of hdds and stick in a closet.
