or a good backup for a second rod
Top quality reel, at a very reasonable price. They have been around for donkeys years for a reason, cos they work, you won't get all the fancy stuff of the far more expensive reels "obviously " just a trusty old tool when you are new to fishing, or a good backup for a second rod.

A clasic
Finally had to replace my SL30SH after more than 15 years use. The reel is maybe a bit on the heavy side now compared with the latest reels of this size, but if looked after, these will last years. Keeping the spool full combined with some light bearing oil will produce decent distances year after year. Only a 4 star rating as when I stripped the new reel, there was a lack of lubricant or protection on most moving parts which over time may cause concern.
