Okay, I've done the fake birds, fake snakes and noise makers and none of them worked. This approach is by far the best. It can be a very effective tool if you are smart about how you use it. My impression is that the birds don't like the pattern and don't like the noise it makes when it moves in the wind. The fact that this stuff is very light, it is constantly moving and flashing various colors around that birds don't like. The only thing I found that works as good as this is Mylar balloons filled with helium. While they work, they're very impractical as you have to keep getting new ones.Oh, one more thing, these work best when protecting a new feature (say you just added a fountain or build a new pool) right from the start. Once birds become accustomed to roosting somewhere, it is FAR more difficult to get them to relocate. Not sure even these things will help you much then. But, I've not found anything better than these. Yet.

I heard someone discuss this product a few yrs ago as a means to keep birds out of your garden without doing harm, poisoning, shooting, etc. My family and I no longer live in Oklahoma but in the mountains of Montana and we are constantly battling with woodpeckers that love to play havoc with our house. Finally I have some relief. My only complaint with Bird-X Tape, be it a minor complaint, is it breaks off and needs to be replaced about every two months. Since using this I have not had to patch a single woodpecker hole. Worth every penny.

Well the tape sat in the water for a week and all the reflective surface came off and now it's clear.To be fair maybe this was an extreme case, but ...

I have woodpeckers on my roof. I have ordered this product (2" x 100ft w/stands) before and it seemed to reduce the number of woodpeckers that would peck on my tile roof, which sounds very loud in the house. I would guess that it reduced the number of woodpeckers by about 1/2.The reflective tape is very thin and decomposes fairly quickly in the sunlight and wind. But there is plenty of tape to replace the tape that has shredded on your roof (just keep the extra tape indoors).This is the 2nd time I have ordered this product. To my surprise, this time it did not come with the 6 stands needed to place the tape on the roof! Instead all I got was a letter saying they were out of stands (photo of letter attached). I could email them and they might send me some stands if they get them back in stock.If I had gotten the stands I would have given this product 3 stars. I will update this review if I ever do get the 6 stands as shown in the product photo.Update 1/11/2021 - It has been over 1 month and I still have not received the stands that were supposed to be included with this product. I have lowered my product rating accordingly.

It really does work. We have a pool with several water features and sparrows (50 at a time) would come and drink the water. Wouldn't have cared, but of course they left behind lots and lots of "presents" after each visit. Our boulders were a mess! With nothing but some money to lose, bought the tape and lo and behold, the birds started to stay away! We tied it in ribbons on cactus arms around the pool instead of the stands included. A few stragglers, probably desperate in the summer heat, still stop by once in a while, but that's it. Yes, the tape does break a bit in the wind, but so far nothing that would stop me from buying it again.

I was not impressed and neither were the birds. I bought one tearing off the tape and using it for nesting material. Only reason I gave it two stars was the entertainment factor of watching the birds trying to steel it for their nests.

Have had this tape tied to dock poles for a week now and haven't had any more ducks or duck feces on our dock! My neighbors didn't think it would work, but note all the ducks out on THEIR floating dock, and not any on mine. Time will tell if this works all summer, but so far so good, and it has been a pleasure to enjoy a clean dock!

The tape quality was good. Unfortunately it does not scare the pigeons. The mynas just try to tear it to use in their nests.
