Denby Jet Stripes Large Curve Mug

Great product fits perfect with the rest of my collection

Hello I recieved my items in the post today of my denby items and a couple seemed to be broken and chiped the mug and sugar bowl I will email them.

Love this mug, and ordered a second! It nicely matches my stripes sugar bowl, and they all complement the set of jet black cups and saucers. All hall marked, and of the quality expected of Denby!

I have four Denby mugs - all in this size but with different designs, including one of the jet stripes. I've had these mugs over four years now - which is really good for our house. I can be a bit clumsy sometimes, and yes, these mugs have been dropped numerous times on to hard floors, bounced of the worktops, knocked off the coffee table etc. All four mugs are still in one piece, with all the handles still attached and not a chip in sight. The mugs are heavy to hold, and the handles are thick and chunky, but they fit comfortably in the hand, and the handles don't dig into your fingers. As for the capacity, yes, they'll hold 400ml of drink.

Bought to add to our existing mugs (some had chipped in the dishwasher) and found these are a good match despite our originals being a few years old but, strangly, these new ones are 4oz lighter. No big deal but interesting, well a little bit interesting!

Great mug design: sturdy feel to them and and comfortable to hold. But the inside is very porous and soaks up stains like nobody's business. So don't do what I've done by not washing them up immediately after use when drinking stain generating hot drinks. Once you stain the inner cup with black coffee, the stains won't come off either - EVER. I've tried everything: cream bleaches, wire wool soap, salt water, smokers toothpaste powder, denture soak, lemon juice, vinegar....you name it. Now I've got lovely mugs on the outside, but nasty, dirty looking looking brown rings on the inside. Thankfully no-one notices but I still feel I have to replace them when there's another sale on, even though they aren't chipped or broken. That's why I haven't given full marks. High end pottery should stain resistant and be relatively easy to keep clean no matter what's been in it and for how long.
