VTech over Leap based on experience
Love, love, love! Can't beat the price, the durability, and the value. This product has a touch screen, tethered stylus, is rechargeable without removing the batteries by using the provided battery packs and cable, micro sd slot to expand the memory, and a camera that can be forward or rear-facing This product is easy to use. You can purchase cartridges for this system (any Innotab cartridge should work). While they can be pricy at the store, you can find used ones on Ebay or new ones in bundles of multiples on both Amazon and Ebay. The current package includes 3 free down-loads from the computer app/web access program. You can only choose from certain apps, but there is a good assortment for girls, boys, toddlers to big kids. There are online down-loads available that match most things that you would find on your phone store, including music (such as Kids Bop, nursery rhymes, etc.). There are learning apps and fun apps. Some say that the battery life is too short, but I don't think that it's any worse than other tablets out there. It might even be better. This is made for kids, so you don't have to worry quite as much about it getting ruined by basic kid play. So long as it's not abused, it should last for the most active of children. We have tried the Leap tablet and did not like it nearly as well. In addition, when our Leap system glitched, the CS at Leap told us "we can offer you a discount on a new one." So far we've not even seen a glitch from this VTech product. I would buy this again if I had to do it over. I liked it so much, we have purchased one for 3 of our children. VTech allows you to purchase each app once and down load it to as many tablets as you like, so you can buy 1 app and use for all 3 (or however many) children. I am currently shopping for ones for my nephews.

I LOVE this tablet
I LOVE this tablet! I got it for my daughter's birthday, and she is obsessed. It's got a good enough battery life, and it's withstood three months of abuse from two small children. It's been dropped, spilled on and -ew- vomited on but it's availed! It works as good as ever. The downloadable games are cheap and affordable, and there's a ton of fun educational options. I love love love the ability to customize the tablet and downloaded a princess theme. I personally like that it doesn't connect to WiFi as my daughter is 3, and this tablet isn't meant for kids old enough to access the internet. It plugs into the computer and gives me full control. I'd buy it again.

Battery cover broke the first day.
The batteries would not charge and in getting the rechargeable batteries out, the battery cover was broken. We had to replace the batteries with regular batteries and put a piece of tape on to hold the cover. I purchased this particular one because the color was my granddaughter's favorite color.

Aweome product
I absolutely love this product. My daughter seems to also. Since her older sister had a real adult tablet we didnt want our younger one having an adult one with internet access so we thought this would be better which it really is. She can still take pics with the camera and she has a pen thing to click with. Its perfect for long trips because it really keeps her busy and she likes coloring in the car when its dark but you cannot do that with crayons and paper when there is no light where with this they have games you can get where she can color in the dark. plus the battery is awesome it seems to last a long time. it might be more expense then a real adult tablet at least the adult tablets we have looked at but for a child so young its an awesome buy.. Now when mommy is on her laptop, daddy is on his tablet and sister is on her tablet our little one doesn't have to be left out because she has her own tablet to play on. I would say the only downfall is you cannot download FREE app games like you can on a real adult tablet. But we had the grandparents buy a cartrdige each for bdays and christmas. So she wound up having like 5 cartridges to play with.

Don't Waste Your Money
I just don't think it's worth the money. We ordered two of these for our daughters. Opened them both to make sure they worked (after we ordered something for my son's birthday without checking and he opened it and it did not work) and these were going to be Christmas presents so we did not want to relive that disappointment that I saw in my son's eyes on his birthday when his headphones didn't work and see my daughters upset if these didn't work. Well, one worked and one didn't. For the one that did work, no kid who knows what a real tablet is supposed to do and look like is going to go for this. The pictures the camera takes in good lighting are "okay" and if the lighting isn't perfect, forget about it. It comes with two stylus pens, and I personally don't think Stylus pens belong with a kid's tab. The use for them died when the iPhone and real touch screens emerged. The apps seem to be inferior. The system moves SLOW and it just isn't worth the money when you can either spend a little more than double the amount and get a Kindle for kids or spend about the same and get an Orbo Jr when they are on sale. Supposedly Amazon is issuing me a credit for the return. I will update if that doesn't happen like it's supposed to. In the meantime I've ordered my one daughter the kid's Kindle and my other daughter will be getting an Orbo Jr. This particular "tablet" just isn't up to par with today's technology and any child that has ever touched a real tablet or smart phone isn't going to want anything to do with it.

Great teaching tool for the price
Great teaching tool for the price. However, I bought it as a gift for both my 3 yr old daughter and 5 yr old granddaughter and they were quickly borded with it. They learned the apps and tools very quickly. Also, if you don't own a PC or laptop, you can't add other apps to it. Otherwise, they're great teaching tools and distractors to take on roadtrips.
