The auger with a bit attached is probably 30 pounds or so. Easily moved by one person. Holes greater than 8" are probably a "two-man operation" if there are rocks or roots in the ground.

Q: Does it require gear oil or is it filled already?

It does not come with gear oil. I used SAE 80W Gear Lubricant. It doesn't have a filler cap either. There is a bolt on the side of the motor which you remove. You have to lay the motor on its side, add oil where you removed the bolt then turn upright to let oil drip out. Once it stops dripping put the bolt back in and it's ready to go. The gear housing does not have a gasket so the motor will leak oil when you use it.

Q: Do you offer a bit for hard rocky soils?

Sorry, our current type is only suitable for soil with a small amount of rocks. In the future, alloy drills will be developed to apply hard rocky soils. Please pay attention to ECO LLC/DC HOUSE Earth Auger New release.
