Bevinsee Clutch Master Cylinder Rod Fix Repair Mod

So thankful to have found this product. My son got stranded on the side of the road when the PLASTIC (!) version of this part (that comes standard on the vehicle as part of the clutch pedal assembly) shattered into pieces while he was driving. One minute the clutch was working fine, the next minute he had no clutch while making a left turn across a busy intersection. Fortunately he was able to get to the shoulder safely, but that could've been a bad situation. No auto parts stores have this piece in stock, so when it breaks, you'll want to have one quickly. We did have to tow the vehicle to our home, but we ordered this part off Amazon and it was delivered to the house the next morning. Took maybe 20-30 minutes to install, works perfectly, and he was back on the road... for $11!!! We're also glad that we're somewhat mechanically-inclined, because a dishonest or unprofessional mechanic or repair shop could have tried to tell us we needed to replace the entire brake and clutch pedal assembly. That would have been probably $300-$350 for the part, and the same amount for the labor. Again, we were able to get it fixed for $11! One thing I'd say about this part (which is aluminum, not plastic) is that the set screw it comes with is tiny. I went to Home Depot and got a longer screw, probably not necessary but I thought it'd be easier to access, especially in the confined space down by the pedals. If you have a manual/stick-shift 05-09 Mustang and you've never replaced this part, I'd highly recommend replacing it BEFORE it breaks and leaves you stranded on the side of the road, or worse, causes you to get in an accident!

Sturdy construction, far better than the plastic OEM part. I expect it will last the life of the vehicle. Installed quickly and easily, no issues after several weeks of use.

Part fit perfectly

The installation was very easy. Set and forget.

The fit and finish of this item is not great. The barrel is not a snug fit on the master cylinder rod, and the set screw provided is not a secure fit in the threaded hole. Most importantly, the set screw provided was way too short and just fell into the barrel when trying to tighten it against the rod. A trip to the hardware store to find a matching longer screw to fit, and some locktite to keep it in (the hole seems overbored) costs about $12 extra, and planning to get some epoxy steel putty to fill the barrel and make it fit more securely will be a few dollars more. So overall, a little more than 2X the cost of this part to make it actually work as it should have. That said, this is still a better solution than the ~&900 a dealership wanted to replace the entire master cylinder just because of the broken linkage. Just prepare for it not to be perfect.
