Haden Perth Toaster - Electric Stainless-Steel Toaster with Reheat and Defrost Functions - 1370-1630W, Four Slice, Cream

I spent some time researching a replacement toaster. Our previous one had served us very well - in fact we were amazed how long it had lasted. My initial reaction when opening the box was the toaster's flimsy construction - about half the weight of our other toaster. Setting it down on the worktop I immediately noticed it did not sit "flat" on its four rubber feet; consequently, the toaster wobbled and it also tended to move about when being handled - which was very, very annoying. Of course, the light-weight construction does not help in this respect. Looking for a possible reason I noticed that two of the base-plate screws were missing. Rectifying this with replacement screws did not solve the problem. With no adjustment for the feet - and the necessity of retaining the all rubber inserts to prevent the toaster sliding about - I set about "packing out" one of the inserts to raise it slightly. This was fiddly and took time, but it appears to have worked well - although I suspect by now I will have voided any guarantee.It could be argued that all this should be unnecessary and that I should have just packed the toaster back in its box and returned it for an exchange or a refund. But, from my experience, this is not necessarily a hassle-free option.As for the toaster itself, the slots are not big enough for very big slices of bread and there is no facility to lift the lever during toasting to inspect progress - but I suspected this to be the case upon ordering.The best point is that the controls are simple and appear (so far) to be effective.Should I have purchased this toaster? It was certainly not the cheapest option. So no, probably not.

Seems well made. Easy to use and keep clean. Deals with frozen bread well. I haven't tried it with buns yet but looks plenty wide enough. Looks nice too. I will comment later on quality and longevity.

I wish that I had not bought this Toaster. One side toast really brown, while the other side of the bread hardly brown at all. Also when you set the number 4 on toaster ---the slider to put it down hides the number 4 when toasting. Not good at all. will give it 3 points no more. Teddy

Good toaster, although the bread I buy is slightly larger than slots, but same with my previous make.

After a week the right side keeps shorting out the house circuit.Doesn’t fit bread in side ways so the top never gets toasted.Does look good tho

The toaster is a lovely colour and fits in well to our kitchen. We are pleased with the settings it provides for toasting different things, it is very efficient and you can shorten the time if you prefer to do so! A good purchase.
