When wine corks get old they tend to dry out, get crumbly and are hard to remove from the bottle. Using a standard corkscrew, sometimes the cork falls apart once the corkscrew is inserted and you try to extract it from the bottle. That's why this thing was invented.This is a copy of the ridiculously expensive, and I don't have any idea why, Durand French wine opener. In any case this thing seems to be ok. A few nitpick things. It comes in a so called leather case. The case is not genuine leather in my opinion. The texture is weird and there is no leather smell. The snap on the case was almost impossible to unsnap. The corkscrew itself seems to be made very well. It looks like pot metal, with the 2 prongs being made of stainless steel. Another reviewer's corkscrew came undone when they tried to insert it into a cork, my copy was fine.So $80 for this, compared to the original at $150, this seems like a bargain, but for what it's worth, I think it's overpriced. I guess if you have a vintage wine that needs to be opened you need this. There is also the Ah So which is much less expensive that could work.

The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased your Ah So-style wine opener (order placed on March 26, 2025, via Amazon), and unfortunately, the worm broke after opening just my third bottle. I was using it on an older bottle of Château Montrose, and the metal spiral snapped off mid-use inside the cork.I’ve attached photos of the broken part and cork. I take great care when using tools like this, so it was frustrating to see it fail.

Used on a 20+ year old bottle of wine where the bottom of the cork was left behind in the neck of the bottle. Was able to pull it out no problem with this device.

It’s very easy to use, the handle is comfortable. The design is sleek and sturdy, and it’s very compact for storage. Great wine opener.

This is a smart design, a two-part wine bottle opener. The screw part fits neatly inside of the ah so part. You can use one or both, and both work efficiently, provided you know how to use them. The ad suggests it to be an "ideal gift for wine lovers", which it is, with one drawback - a big white label on the front of the gift box detracts from the gift's appeal. I think at this price point, the package should be more presentable.

I bought it as a gift to my friend and he really likes it! It came with the beautiful leather case for you to store it safely.
