The Tricolor Prayer Plant (Tri-Color Stromanthe) is an easy to grow house plant that prefers very bright indirect light. Keep evenly moist, not wet or dry. The tops of the leaves are variegated white and green, while the undersides are a brilliant reddish-pink. The plant prefers high humidity. A relative of the common Prayer Plant, this one does not close it's leaves at night. This is also called Trio Star Stromanthe. Grown in a 4" pot. Some of our plants are shipped bare root to avoid damaging the plant.

So happy with my order that I ordered again!
I bought a Tricolor Stromanthe and a String of Trutles that came together. Packaging was secure, Tricolor's pot even had masking tape over the top of the pot around the plant, so that minimal soil came loose. Both are in excellent shape; Tricolor has a ton of gorgeous leaves and a bunch of new ones growing. The Turtles are so small, but they are healthy and so cute and they'll grow if I treat them right. Neither plant had a single bad leaf. I'm giving them a chance to get acclimated so I haven't repotted them yet, but there don't seem to be any bugs or mold. Both plants' soils were damp-wet, but not soaked. They weren't drowning, but I didn't need to water for a few days. I was so impressed that I ordered 2 other Calatheas (my favorite!). First time ever ordering plants online and I was a little nervous, but I'm relieved and excited to find a good plant vender with fair prices. The ONLY thing I can think of that I wasn't thrilled about is that our mailboxes are 2 blocks away (the whole neighborhood's are there so it's easy on the mailperson), and they are made of metal, and this is Summer in Nevada. Rather than delivering these fragile plants to my door like most other packages, it was put in the "oversized mail" box, which is essentially an oven, in 100⁰+ weather. The package was clearly marked "Live Plants" so I'm not sure who's really to blame here, but I just figured I'd mention it. I'll be driving over to check the mail every 2 hours until they get here to make sure they're not in there roasting! Lol Honestly, though, other than the (albeit very timely, which was also a really great surprise) delivery, so far I have nothing but good things to say. Would definitely recommend to others. I'll update on the condition of the Calatheas when they get here.

Small and Okay
This was my first purchase from Hirts. I ordered this triostar and their watermelon peperomia.I read many mixed reviews about the terrible shipping. However, this was not the case with my order. Hirts shipped within a day after placement and it arrived around two days later. They packed the plants nicely, providing a free heat pack as well as a LOT of bubble wrapping/insulation to prevent the plants from moving around. The triostar itself is okay in my opinion. I live in FL sand I planned my order by checking my weather. The plant is really small. But it came in okay condition so....3 leaves were curled closed and three are open and beautiful. Hopefully it lives. For $4 it isn’t too bad of a buy.I reported the plant and put it on a pebble tray and I plan to take it into the shower for some extra humidity. Fingers crossed it does well! My room is relatively humid anyways since I live in FL (even during our “winters”)

Pretty spot on to photo
Plant arrived very well packed the pot itself was wrapped in Saran Wrap no dirt or anything spilling out. The plant is pretty spot on to the photos and was still very wet,for the price I’d be happier with a fuller plant but I’m very happy overall for a seemingly healthy and safely delivered plant.

Pleased with Plant!
I bought this plant with two others, a Peacock calathea and an African violet. I’m very pleased with this plant and the calathea. The African violet is worse for wear and I left a separate review for that. The Stromanthe triostar came well packaged and insulated with “air bags”. The nursery pot was taped all over the top to keep the soil in the pot, which it did somewhat although it was still a bit of a mess. This Stromanthe seems very healthy. It is small but I expected that as I have ordered from this seller before. As we all know, plants grow! The other plants I have bought from this seller in the past are quite large now. This is my first try at growing a Stromanthe so we will see how that goes! Overall I am very happy with this plant.

Beautiful color contrast. Shiny elegant leaves
Very pretty color contrast. This is packed in peat as peat is lightweight for shipping. As soon as you receive it you need to transplant into a 8-10 inch pot with a soil such as Miracle Grow for African violets, and a good time released fertilizer. You also need a humidifier so the leaves don't dry up on the edges and they require misting daily. I place my plants in the bath tub after a hot shower and shut the door for an hour. They would do better in a clear plastic bag, as my prayer plants only thrive that way and don't dry the leaf edges. They require a lot of humidity. If you don't have a south facing window a grow light would be helpful.

Beautiful plant
The media could not be loaded. When the plant arrived it didnt lookn healthy, but I think it was due to heat and been in packages. It was packaged really well. I left the plant alone for couple days just put some water and some indirect sunlight. It came up again. After 2 week I replanted the plant and does doing great.

Didn't work for me, might work for cooler climate...
So mine died the first week. I'm not sure if this was due in part to my own error. I did research on the plant and tried to nurture it accordingly, but I was not sure about when/how to repot it. I think I ended up with too little too late. It would be helpful to have some information included with the plant for more inexperienced gardeners. I think that there is also the possibility that it was just too hot, having this ship in summer. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because the plant looked like it could have been really nice, but something went wrong. For the price, I'd have liked a little more info and help getting the plant to thrive.

Not too bad
Not bad for the price! I’ve ordered five plants from Hirt's. You really never know what you’re gonna get. I’ve had some nearly dead on arrival, some wth mealy bugs and some in good shape. This one was pretty decent. I can’t get this plant locally so it ended up being worth the gamble.Update March 21. Doing great. I’ve attached a picture of its progress. This plant needs lots of humidity. If you don’t have that, a humidifier will be necessary to keep the leaf tips from browning.
