REVIEW ON THE IR 20 KEY REMOTE/CONTROLLERThis product came with no instruction booklet, so after messing around with it my findings are below.REMOTE KEY FUNCTIONS:-Brightness up/down - Most importantly, these 2 buttons functions change dependent upon what mode your in>Any single color mode - Brightness up/down>Jump 3, Jump 7, Fade 3, Fade 7 - Changes how quickly the colors change (brightness up = faster, brightness down = slower)>Music Mode 1, 2, 3, and 4 - Adjusts the sensitivity of the microphone. When you are in music mode brightness up = more sensitive microphone, brightness down = less sensitive microphone. There is NO indication given that you're changing anything when you're in music mode and you press brightness up/down. However, in order to tell you're changing it is to have music playing, switch to any music mode, and then press your brightness up/down multiple times. You'll immediately notice your LED lights become much more or less responsive based upon your input. I've tested this multiple times and works every time, the only thing I've noticed is it seems you have to have music playing when you're adjusting the sensitivity of the mic. So, if you try pausing the sound and pressing your brightness up/down button, it seems nothing changes. However, if you press your brightness up/down key while the music is playing (and you're in a music mode) you'll notice an immediate change in the light's reaction to sound.-I'm really surprised they don't describe this great feature on this as I've seen many reviewers believe the mic is static and cannot be adjusted. - ( VIDEO ) --The video posted shows the lighting effect before and after adjusting the microphone setting. I have the microphone about 3 inches away from a 7.1 surround sound speaker.-The music played is at a very low volume to show how the microphone is easily adjustable-I did not change the distance of the mic from the speaker nor did I adjust the volume of the music.-The first clip shows the IR receiver distance from the speaker, the 2nd clip shows the mic at it's lowest setting - notice the lights only changes twice, the 3rd clip shows the mic at a higher setting and the lights are much more reactive to the music - although I probably could've increased the mic a bit more to make it more in sync with the music.OVERALL AND FINAL THOUGHTS:-I did not get a defective product as it seems other users may have received.-LED lights (and electrical systems in general) are delicate. If you're soldering the wires, you must do so when it's unplugged and ensure when you plug it up to test it that no 2 wires of the opposite are touching each other on the connection or soldering location. If they are touching, you will damage the LED lights or the IR receiver box making them useless.-You must ensure when you plug your LED's up to the connector from the IR box that they are correct to the corresponding wire by matching the 2 arrows to each other. The connector WILL allow you to flop this connection and again, if you do this, it will damage or destroy all LED's connected to the box and possibly the IR box itself.-Overall I'm very satisfied with this IR Music LED box. I had no issues with it at all, it was plug and play. Although, I wish it would've came with an instruction booklet as it has more features on the controller than what's advertised. Which is a good thing I guess!

Music response is adjustable from the remote
2nd update: They helped me identify the sensitivity setting on the remote and now the device works great! This is a cool edition to my existing LED strip light setup. Gives me all the standard features that I liked + the sound activation.Update: They have been sending me emails about this review and sent me another unit expecting it to behave differently. It did not.I hooked this up to my existing 5050 lights and it it allows me to do the usual effects I like, so I did not loose anything. As for the music response. It is super sensitive and goes full seizure. If I can find a way to adjust the sensitivity, then I will update the review

Good to control LEDs, bad standalone
This is a fine basic controller for 5050 LED strips, but the music detection functions are lackluster -- they seem to detect loudness but they don't do it with any reasonable sort of accuracy. Personally, I'm using this as a base to control 5050 strips with an arduino, so I've cracked it open and found that the logic circuitry is 5v, and it even has convenient large pads on the PCB which connect to the three pins of each power mosfet, so using these as a method to control LED strips is a cinch. I'm not sure I can recommend this as a standalone product, but I think it works great as a cheap way to allow arduinos to control LED strips.

In-A-Gadda–Da-Vida-Baby
I thought I would write a quick review. The very first thing you do when you order SUPERNIGHT Infrared Music Controller to order the four pin bridge as mine didn’t come with one and it’s good to have spares. After you get SUPERNIGHT Infrared Music Controller, blow up the manual as it’s about the size of two calling cards. The test. After swapping out the bridge I plug it into the string of 5050 LED’s and imagine my surprise when the string didn’t light up. Well it called “plug it into the power stupid.” When you do that stand back as it just boom with color. As the controller has some limitation’s it’s seem to have better response than the original. As I am typing this letter I have some music going in the back ground and having the little box jamming its little heart out. For a starter unit it’s not bad. The only regret is I didn’t have time to set it up for Halloween, but again there is next year.Too bad this unit wasn’t around when Iron Butterfly was playing In-A-Gadda–Da-Vida. Wow man psychedelic.

Sound Sensor Works Well!
This works great on my RGB 5050 led strip lights. It doesn't have as many color options as a normal remote controller but still has the main colors that most anyone would want. The sound sensor works really well. I have computer surround sound speakers set up and the sensor is on the opposite side of the room from the speakers. The sensor doesn't have any problem sensing the sound. The sensor is sensitive enough to react to me clapping my hands on the opposite side of the room. For less than $10.00 you can't really go wrong, the only downside is the lack of options but again it's less than $10 bucks so hey it's well worth the price.

sad to say
As my order history reflects , I have just purchased a NEW ir comtroller because the initial part that came with thew package deal stopped functioning . I also had to replace the ir unit as the color- changing capabilities do not function . these elecronics are very cheaply made and unreliable . I regret purchasing these products , and as I soon discovered , if you want any use other than 16 feet of malfunctioning lights , you will be drawn in to make untold extra purchases for connectors, x-tra power supplies , etc if you think to be creative with these lights . sad to say, best leave lighting to pros , and RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY . Sadly , this is my lesson .
