Q: Can this be put in the car?

Thanks for your inquiry. There is not a problem with putting the kit in your car. In fact it should be somewhere readily accessible in case of emergency. The food and water are SOS brand. They designed their products with a foil lining on the inside which allows the water and food to be in cold and hot conditions without effecting the shelf life.

Q: Are the bagpacks water resistant?

The packs are water resistant NOT waterproof. A coating of scotch guard or aqua armor will further the protect the bags and contents.

Q: For the 4 person bags, are the two bags packed alike so if you get seperated from your family, you both have the same items?

Mary,The bags are not packed exactly the same. In the interest of keeping the kit as condensed and compact as possible, there are some items for which there is only one unit (for example rope, gloves, first aid kit) with the expectation that they are to be shared among the party of 4. If you would like 2 identical bags we would recommend purchasing two 2 person kits.
