ANOTHER HAMMER HORROR THAT WORKS BETTER ON BLU RAY
The story starts with the final scene of the 1958 original, where Count Dracula is transformed into ashes. Christopher Lee reprises his role as Count Dracula once again, as two couples travelling through Eastern Europe, find themselves stranded by the side of the road, after their coach driver dumps them, and drives off. In the distance they spot a castle, a driverless carriage appears, and after getting in, it proceeds to take them to the castle. After arriving they are met by the mysterious Klove, a servant of the castle. This is the direct sequel to Dracula, which was Hammer's first outing with the Dracula films, also starring Peter Cushing. This genre would go on untill the 70's, which Hammer would become world famous for. For anyone who grew up with these films in the 60's, this one is a must buy. Or for anyone who hasn't yet watched a 'Hammer Horror', and hasn't seen any of the old style of horror films, then watch this.Hammer only made a few films in the CinemaScope format, and this is one of them. The film has been transferred in it's original aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Colours are natural, and this blu ray looks good. The sound is in 2.0Final word: Before buying this, I already owned this film on dvd, and I can say that this blu ray release has far better Picture Quality than the dvd.Recommended, especially if you are a fan of Hammer Horrors.

For Us There Will Be No Tomorrow
This is my favourite Dracula movie. In the build up to the Count's appearance Barbara Shelly gives a superb performance as a woman absolutely terrified out of her wits by an evil that no one else seems to feel. When told by her insensitive husband that things will look different tomorrow she replies to the effect that, "For us there will be no tomorrow". Christopher Lee plays a Dracula without speech. He hisses and creates a staring monster that comes across as both evil and totally alien. There is non of the smooth talk of the traditional Dracula here. The scene where Dracula is brought back to life by the shedding of blood over his ashes, and rises from the swirling mist in his sarcophagus is truly memorable. In the first half of the movie the party of two travelling couples, who will take no advice, are warned not to go to Carlsbad, insist on going and are warned that they must start early and be there well before nightfall. They are also told that there is no castle, but insist there's one on the map, and of course end up being thrown off their coach as night falls, close to the castle gates, by a terrified coachman. They allow themselves to be taken into the castle and events take their inevitable course. The tension tends to be lost a little in the later parts of the movie, but it's still one of Hammer's best efforts and well worth watching.

DRACULA-PRINCE OF DARKNESS.
Having seen the original HORROR OF DRACULA many times in the cinema at the time I hoped and waited that Christopher Lee would make a follow up. My wish came true when Hammer made "DRACULA-PRINCE OF DARKNESS" I have since seen this Hammer Classic quite a lot at various cinemas and plus have two DVD versions I have to say in my view that this film could've been a lot better than what It was! Well for one thing Peter Cushing's Van Helson was very sadly misssed plus It was about 25 minutes into the film before Dracula Appeared. There was very little blood used in the this one apart from the scene were Alan's blood was used to bring Dracula back to life affer been killed by Krove, Also Dracula wasn't seen with blood on his lips as in the original. I have not yet seen the Blu Ray version but as far as I know there are no restored footage on this one as in the original Blu Ray release and I don't know if any scenes were cut on the cinema release or not. But to my mind this one doesn't match up to the orginal "HORROR OF DRACULA" but "DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS" is a lot better than the follow up Hammer Dracula films..

The evil Count has risen!
Christopher Lee is in fine form here as the evil Count who wrecks havoc on a group of tourists and fine performances throughout. Classic Hammer film.
