Useful thinking on the application of creative techniques to strategy
Innovation and innovation techniques are the business topic du jour but a lot of the conversation focuses on developing new products or are how to's of brainstorming. Thinking in New Boxes includes a useful overview of the brainstorming (divergent process), as well as some good ideas on convergence, but these are only two chapters. The ideas on applying this to business issues and strategy are very valuable. I think most businesses and management teams would benefit hugely from the chapter on doubting everything, so often we get stuck in believing what we see right in front of us rather than questioning our preconceived notions.Creative scenarios are an underused method for strategy creation. Where scenarios are used they are often high, medium and low scenarios. Applying creative techniques to create entirely new futures is very valuable and I like the authors' approach.Finally this is a very useful book with a lot of good frameworks and ideas that can be put to use in many business situations.

Awesome book!
This is one of those books that can sink in really deep or you can forget it the second day. Depends on your level of focus. The examples provided in the book are sufficient proof that in order to realize where you want to be you must want to let your mind wonder and dare to dream the impossible, the funnel those dreams/ideas and then bring them down to reality and make them fit your future vision.Highly recommend it!

It's kinda hard to find supporting matierals
I'm expanding on my reading on my leadership studies class, this book does not provide enough evidence/references to validate the content. However, It's easy to read, which I liked and had some interesting ideas. In a less researched area, it does provide some interesting perspective.

Important, Insightful and Impactful
The book "Thinking In New Boxes" by Alan Iny and Luc de Brabendere accomplishes something extraordinary - it delivers practical insights that the reader can apply to their work (and lives) and entertains with real-world stories that exemplify those lessons. It's a book that's been enthusiastically read and enjoyed and underlined throughout. And it's improved my thinking. No doubt Mr Iny and de Brabendere have done this for a great many people within those companies who've had the benefit of engaging their talents. The good news... this book is available as a guide for everyone else.

One of the best of its kind
One of the best of its kind. Well explained and easy to understand for non-academics. Creative thinking is more a metter of "thinking". It is not just thinking out of the box but looking to the many boxes where our answers ares. Creativity and innovation are capacities everybody can develop following a sound methodology and overcoming common fears.

Unimaginative book - old box - good ideas
While there were some good ideas the book read looked as like it was printed in the 60'sThe examples of creativity were dated. My expectation was something fresh new innovative with visuals, models with content that was up-to-date. Very few references to new businesses, entreprenteurs, websites, technology...I'll reserve my critic until i read it further I'm sure there are valuable ideas.

A really clarifying and exceptionally good business book.
Someone who works at Boston Consulting Group gave this as a gift and I read it to be polite. NowI am recommending it to other people and one of the companies I work for is recommending it toevery top executive to read. Rarely do business books have anything new to say or new views, butthis one does.

Great content, but restyling is recommended
Great content. Amazing on-line course by Luc be Brabandere at Coursera on the same subject.As a pair the course+the book it is exciting. I would refresh a style of the book.Maybe it lacks visual images. A bit boring style does not match exciting ideas and content.

Nice Book
It is full of examples/puzzles in the initial part which I liked alot and understood what creative thinking means. The framework of doubt , possibilities, coming up with new boxes is good. Although nothing is guaranteed having framework gives structure to your effort to come with new solutions. Book is full of amaz9ng real life examples on how new solutions were put in place to complex pronlems

tutto parte dal dubbio (what if..)
Analizzare la realtà, dubitare , dubitare e dubitare per cercare di "spingersi" oltre la routine quotidiana della "comfort zone". Uso del pensiero "induttivo" per scoprire nuovi orizzonti (new boxes) evitando così di finire come Kodak e Nokia. Libro eccellente.

Go Beyond Thinking Just 'Outside the Box'
I'm a strategic facilitator and reference this a LOT when I'm facilitating strategy sessions. "Don't limit yourself to thinking outside the box, think in NEW Boxes."

a future classic
This is a great read and one that should stand up for the long term. The ideas introduced will help you look at creativity and change in new ways which make absolute sense. If your trying to finds ways to stimulate creativity and challange your or your teams existing mental models and ways of thinking this is for you. This work includes practical examples from the authors professional experience which really helps to bring to life the approches proposed. Highly recommended.
