Very nice
There wonderfully built, easy to put together, but they take the smaller size trash bins not the large ones.

The unit is so light that it gets blown around easily, and it is so lacking in rigidity that ...
In my opinion, marketing this structure as an outdoor shelter amounts to consumer fraud. I assembled mine in May of last year, setting it atop a level platform of paving blocks. A few months later, the shed toppled over in a windstorm and one of the swinging doors had gotten wrenched off. I set the unit back upright, reattached the door, and screwed a sheet of plywood to the bottom of the unit in an attempt to give it more rigidity, but about a month ago, both a door and the roof were torn off in a wind storm. The unit is so light that it gets blown around easily , and it is so lacking in rigidity that any movement causes the slide bolts on the top of the doors to go out of alignment with the catches that are supposed to hold them, causing doors to swing open. Because the screws used to affix the hinges to the doors are very small and the wood lacks density, the hinge screws easily tear out when the doors are forcefully swung open. At this point, my "shelter" is damaged beyond repair, and I've spent three weeks trying to get somebody to issue me a refund. Brookstone answers its e-mails promptly and politely but basically asks you to talk to the company that markets the product, Leisure Season. Leisure Season hasn't answered my e-mail yet. I would not recommend buying this product.Update: spoke with Leisure Season rep who said that no refund would be given because damage was caused by wind, an "act of God." Not a tornado or a hurricane, mind you, but wind.

Looks great but not the most sturdy shed
Looks great but not the most sturdy shed so I debated between 3 and 4 stars. There is no floor to this shed so if your ground is a little uneven it easily throws off the alignment of the doors. The doors are kept closed with small slide bolts which slide against the top frame, not the other door, so if the doors are out of alignment they don't stay shut. The top lid works very nicely but again the latch is rather flimsy. We bought this shed to protect our trash from bears that we have occasionally at our house in the Rocky Mtns. It lasted about 2 months until last week a bear was able to tip it over and rip the front door off (and yes, it was attached to the house porch, not just free standing). Because there is no bottom, when the bear rocked it the frame warped and the top and doors popped open. He was able to tip it over and then of course the trash cans fell right out the bottom. We are planning to reinforce the whole frame with 2x4 as well as add a rigid bottom. Also reinforce the doors so that they can latch to each other instead of just latching to the upper frame. So in summary, it looks very nice and would be great on a level surface with gentle use. It is not bear proof! Even a clever raccoon could probably get into the doors.

Needs to be larger, but height can be adjusted
My trash cart is about 5" taller than the top rail on this storage shed. I bought some 2 X 6 Cedar boards at the big box lumber company, and raised it up 6", which solved the problem. The only issue this created, is the doors are about 6" short. Also, my cart is all the way up against the back wall, and pushes against the front door. That is a problem that can't be quite as easily resolved. I like the storage shed, and it looks great. However, I think the manufacturer should make it 6 inches deeper, and 6 inches taller. Also, It is a little hard to tell which one, but one or both of the front doors are warped, so the doors don't match up on the front They are the same at the top, but by the time they get to the bottom, there is a difference of about 2 inches. I think I may put another sliding bolt on the bottom of the doors, so they will match up. I may also brad nail a piece of closet plank cedar on the bottom of the doors, so they don't look high water pants. I am removing a star for the warped door, and because I think it should be a little larger. I am not the first to suggest this. Be sure to measure your cart before your order if you don't want to do a lot of extra work to make it work. Finally, someone on a review here, or elsewhere, said the lock mechanism broke, but it was not a big deal; they said they just replaced it. Well, the lock mechanism on it, will only accommodate a lock you would get out of a Cracker-Jack box. Seriously. If you want to put a standard lock on it, you are going to have to replace the lock hasp with a larger, more robust one. I plan to do that very soon. I also didn't like the fact it has no bottom, so I purchased a restaurant grease mat, so it would have a surface to sit on, and so it would drain. See

Better than I Thought after Reading Reviews
I don't get what some reviewers wrote. I find this shed works great. Yes, you need a mostly level ground to ensure the doors are plum. Yes, a self-made shed based on 2x4s with heavy boards would be sturdier. So if you need a heavy duty garbage shed this is not the one. If you are just a homeowner tired of raccoons or wet garbage cans or the sight of them - this does the job nicely. The top lid has tongue-in-groove boards and keeps most drizzle and rain out very well - but of course it is not a storm proof shed if that is what you need. The kit is easy to assembly - though it takes a bit. I needed 50 minutes with my 4-year old son as assistant. You get all the bits and pieces - including the pneumatic lifters that make the lid a one-hand operation. Just do your homework and check the height of your can to ensure you have the clearance.

Deceptive photo-- won't function for holding garbage bins
Nonfunctional size and deceptive photo. Looks like two commercial garbage bins and a smaller bin easily fit into the space. The reality is that I can't even fit a single commercial garbage bin (the one supplied by garbage company) into this container. In fact, I have trouble fitting two 32 gallon garbage cans and recycling bin into this space! I had hoped to raise the height (as at least one other reviewer did) to solve the problem, but the unit isn't deep enough to accommodate the commercial garbage bin either! The unit looks good, but it's pretty flimsy. If it weren't for metal reinforcements at key locations, the unit wouldn't stand (thin strips of cedar). I doubt this will survive a good Texas windstorm without further reinforcement. So disappointing :-(

Lasted for 1 month before starting to fail
Looks great but only lasted 1 month before the pistons holding the lid stopped working. Also, there's a big gap at the back that I had to add a piece of wood to block the squirrels from getting in. It's also a bit flimsy but I expectedt that given the price. The pistons shouldn't fail in 1 month though

assembly
Pictures are good, but labels each big pieces with a sticker that' s repeated on paper instruction to patch . Or a arrow for up down would help again to put parts together Add a list for tools needed. It should not take one hour to assemble. very beautiful wooden garbage bin. Big and large enough for garbage bin, green compost bin and big blue bin. Nice enough to leave in front deck of my home. hopes this help others.
