Very comprehensive book
This book covers pretty much everything you need to know. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I didn’t get answer to my question.

A practical and concise primer, recommended despite defect
As said in the February review, the Kindle version has about 10 pages of content missing. Because the problem occurs near the beginning of the book, it gives the impression that it bodes ill for how well formatted the book is, but after finishing the book, I can safely say that that's the only missing chunk, and despite the defect, I'd still recommend the book to anyone who's just starting out on inventory management or has taken over an operation that needs improvements in efficiency and accuracy. The author is well versed in theories while highly experienced in practical application. The book provides succinct surveys of methods of inventory management and each's pros and cons, and also how pitfalls in areas of business management either directly or indirectly related to inventory management can lead to various persistent problems. It views inventory as an integral part of a business and aims to help the reader make the business better and stronger as a whole through improved inventory management. As the title indicates, this book is only about the "essentials," so the needs of very large (global in scale) or very complex (like Amazon) operations are not covered, but the conceptual basics should be universally applicable. Note: If you don't own a Kindle reader and intends to read the book on a computer, the diagrams would be too small for your eyes and impossible to read. But given that the diagrams are few and none too essential, it shouldn't amount to more than a nuisance. I had written to Amazon's customer service and the respondent said they're taking the Kindle version off the shelf until the publisher fixes it. So please write in again to badger them if you're buying the book a few months later than I and still find the same problem in the book.

Financial perspectives appreciated
Rare but invaluable view into the financial aspects of inventory. 'Exhibit 2-6 Calculating Net Operating Profit Before Tax' in page 37 of the book, by the way, shows $0.02 of freight cost below Cost of Product. However, I believe it should be an inherent part of Cost of Product, not an independent cost in the structure. It might otherwise be a 'new' cost category far from variable costs and fixed costs - sometimes called Operating Expenses expressed lower in the same exhibit - presented earlier at the bottom of Exhibit 2-4 Variable and Fixed Costs in page 30. Anyone who can clarify this would be appreciated.

A good book to read if one is new to inventory management. Easy to understand. Good for the expert to refresh some fundamental knowledge.

Good info
I have this as a supplemental read for my inventory management class so I haven't gotten to far into it but the info is really laid out well and simple enough for the average person to understand.

Would love the third edition on Kindle!
Nothing wrong with this listing, I just did not notice that the kindle version was only second edition whereas the other purchase options were third edition... needed this for my class and can get most of the work done through this but some questions I'm finding a are not relevant in the second edition

I found this book very informative, nevertheless, this book has lots of mistakes; starting from chapter 2. I hope they rectify them in the next edition.

Good Book On The Basics quickly and not dry Has a few worked out examples for each chapter. And expanded to cover the basics on e-procurement. I have read the earlier edition many years ago, some of the data values in this edition are off!! Hence The 4 stars.
