For the price you can't go wrong here. Excellent value compared to other similar items - this is real steel with only brass trim for contract. You definitely need to wear something under it or it will pull your hair out. Heavy, but with a cap, it is not too unbearable for wearing all day (I wore it for 8 hours at Bristol Ren Fest with just a wool beanie underneath). no links have separated after 5 wearings. you will get some black on your skin where it rubs, but a good soap scrub removes. No rust yet, but still has a thin coating of oil.

Got this for my 16 yr old grandson to wear with the chain mail I also ordered. The shirt and coif are a perfect fit. However, be sure to wear a cover or your hair will get tangled in it! You can buy a cap. My grandson uses the cap that he wears under his football helmet. This coif is a darker color than his chain mail shirt. The contrast with the gold edging is great. Both are very well made. It was delivered promptly. I was impressed with the craftsmanship of the coif and the shirt. He is a 220 lb. state wrestler and stands close to 6'. He wears both with his kilt. And with the sword his sister bought him it looks pretty impressive. Only Gunnar could get away with wearing this outfit to high school!!! So proud of him. He is a straight A honor student and a true gentleman.

This is a great value! Good color, reasonably solid construction. The stock photo is accurate. The opening for the face might be small for some people. I will have to enlarge the opening to be able to slide this back over my head, which is fine, because that's not really what it was designed for. You will want to wipe off the oil before wearing. I have no complaints at all!

Great authentic product but the entire thing is covered in oil. even after trying multiple methods to get rid of the oil, it ultimately stained my costume and left my head covered in oil after wearing it for a few hours.

My grandson is interested in Cos-play. Bought for him. Arrived safely, speedily. He seems to like it.

I ordered this coif to go with a Norman/Viking helm and cloth arming cap "RedSkyTrader Mens Norman Warrior Helmet One Size Fits Most Silver" and "Medieval Renaissance Cotton Padded Coif Arming Cap Black". In a word: FANTASTIC! Comes lightly oiled, black rings with bronze-colored trim around face opening and shoulders. It feels authentic and heavy duty. This is better than any costume or cosplay chainmail you can buy. There are probably some elitist armor snobs out there that would criticize it, but there were all types of mail on the battlefield historically depending on the wearer's wealth and status. This is extremely well priced for the quality.

This is heavy and well worth the cost. It feels much more expensive. The face hole was a bit small, so I cut out a few rings and it fit perfect. Very cool.
