Warhammer Games Workshop Age of Sigmar Corebook Rulebook

An utterly unnecessary purchase, which i’d happily make again
Having been a big fan of Warhammer when I was a kid, I was excited to read the Age of Sigmar (AoS) rulebook after hearing (good things, mostly) about how much things have changed. And, in one sense, I was not disappointed. I find the complete reinvention of Warhammer, from the new mythology to the new rules, utterly enthralling. However, I soon discovered that buying the rulebook was not essential to finding out all I wanted to know about this new universe. Indeed, I found reading the rulebook surprisingly insufficient and the internet proved a more useful resource. In comparison to the Warhammer rulebooks of old, the AoS was lacking in substance. The actual explanation of the rules was relatively poorly structured. I sorely missed a basic army list to get a sense of how the rules relate to units, and how unit characteristics relate to the character of the factions. The realms and mythology of AoS continue to inflame my imagination, but I expected and wanted more from this rulebook.I don’t regret the purchase. The sentimental part of me is glad I have this beefy and beautiful tome tucked into my bookshelf. However, if you’re not the sentimental type be aware that, as far as I can tell, there is nothing of importance in the book that has not been made available for free online.

Lots of story...
Really enjoyed the book, but it is mainly story, rationale and pics as opposed to a huge manual of game rules. Worth a buy if you like the tale telling angle as opposed to being a rules lawyer. Loved it.
