Fantatastic
A great little multi effect unit with some amazing sounds. This is a well designed device, surprisingly inexpensive. Perfect price value ratio. I don't regret to have bought it.

So much fun
I cannot speak with knowledge on the quality of the sound this produces. But I can judge how much fun it is -- It's GREAT. The fact that it is battery powered means you can clip it to your belt and add distortion to whatever you're playing or to your singing, and the combination of a couple of big physical buttons and the ability to tightly customize the sounds via an android app/bluetooth seems just brilliant.

It's very impressive overall; just not for true metal sounds
The Sonicake Pocket Master Portable is a fantastic tool for musicians who prioritize portability and ease of use. It's compact, lightweight, and effortlessly fits into any setup, making it perfect for on-the-go practice or quick gigs. The overall sound quality is quite good, offering solid tones that work well for a range of genres. However, where it falls short is in delivering the depth and authenticity needed for certain styles—particularly true metal. Even with additional IRs added for personalization, it struggles to hit the aggressive, high-gain tones required for heavier music. The responsiveness and richness needed for a truly powerful metal sound just aren’t quite there, making it less ideal for players seeking crushing riffs and razor-sharp clarity. That said, for general use, versatility, and portability, the Pocket Master does a commendable job. If you need a reliable, space-saving option for basic practice and performance, it’s a solid choice—as long as extreme metal tones aren’t your main focus.

Tons of fun!
Such a fun device! I bought for some effects for my synth but have been enjoying it too much with my guitar. Sounds great. I live that it has a lithium battery too.

Eh...
There was a lot of hype for this thing online, and I was really excited. I even sold my Pod Express for it. I wish I had waited, it was a huge mistake. The video reviews are misleading.A big part of what I didn't like about the Pod Express was the limited amp models (I wanted to be able to load my own), and the interface (Having a screen, especially for things like tuning is huge, which the Express lacks.) Plus the fact that it's missing any bass models - I wanted something that was an all in one without spending HX Stomp prices. I'll never be able to afford that. I also don't want to buy a Pod Express Bass. I want both in one device. The Pocket Master seems like the perfect solution. NAM captures, supports bass, still has effects (unlike stuff like the Mooer Preamps/Model X), comes in a compact shape. I thought I could put this next to my interface on my desk and be good to go.Out of the box I noticed that there's no traditional power input. This is strange. It's only powered by USB and battery, but that's fine - It's manageable. It's disappointing since it won't sit well on a pedalboard, but I could work around that.I plug in, power it up, and... It sounds so bad. The bass frequencies are flabby and farty, there's a small delay, everything just sounds off. I was expecting so much more out of the box. Adjusting the EQ on the amp models has almost no affect.Maybe I need updates? I want to play with the software anyhow.Plug it in to my PC, download the firmware, update it, seems cool... The software still isn't letting me edit any of the presets. What gives?Turns out the editing software only works on mobile devices. Ugh. It also seems more geared towards Apple devices, with the Soniclink app not even showing in the Android store. Double ugh.I finally get it working, throw some NAM files on there, and... They still sound bad. This thing just sounds bad. A bit better than the preset sounds, but still. Something is off.I do a deeper dive searching on this product, and from what I can tell it's not natively playing the NAM files so much as it's converting them into it's own format. I guess that makes sense, a device at this price is going to have limited power. The bigger issue is that every distortion on the device is the same: This box seems to only have one distortion sound built in. That's it. When you choose a different amp model, say a Marshall or a Mesa Boogie, it takes that same exact distortion sound and applies a different EQ curve. It's all the same thing with a different EQ setting. That's it. The amp models are just EQ curves, but otherwise they all sound the same, since they mostly are the same. It does seem to operate better with user created NAM files, but not by much. I'm not sure if many people would want to record with this.I'm bummed. I'm sad I sold my Pod Express. Now I have to save up and lose money trying to get a new one. All around not the best experience, and while I don't think this is a bad device for someone just wanting to jam with headphones, it does feel like it's missing the features and capabilities I was really looking forward to.I wish there was something better out there that did everything instead of forcing you to compromise. I just want a box that has some effects, some amps, works with both guitar and bass, and has a screen for editing. Plus the models sound decent. I guess it doesn't exist unless you're willing to buy the HX Stomp. I'm not. Maybe there will be a Pocket Master v2 I can look forward to.

WOW!...Amazing little box
This is an amazing little box. Price is really unbelievable. Sounds are WOW. Like any unit at any price, you need to make adjustments to all the presets and effects...so what? The fact that you actually have access to be able to tweek nearly everything about this box is incredible. Thanks for a great processor, Folks!!!
