On the run from the authorities, Storm finds unexpected help from Maria, a young girl who lives in the city's underground tunnels. Excellent Family Friendly Action Movie!
Storm is an excellent family friendly action movie set against the historical backdrop of the Reformation. It is visually stunning and the story is exciting and compelling all the way through. The relationship between the two main characters, Storm and Maria is charming and poignant. The movie was produced by a Dutch company and dubbed into English. I am usually bothered by dubbing but here it is very well done and this being such a visually oriented production, it is barely noticeable. For an excellent historical overview of the Reformation era I also recommend: This Changed Everything: 500 Years of the Reformation

If you like action/adventure/fantasy you will like this even though it is not based on fantasy. It reminded me of The Book Thief
I really loved this movie. It is very entertaining and I was at the edge of my seat for most of it. There were 2 scenes that moved slowly, for example, when the girl had Storm at knifepoint. But, I just skipped ahead when those scenes began to drag. However, overall, I was really pleased to see this subject matter so well done. You'd never see anything this well done in an American production on this subject matter, which is protestant reformation. I didn't even know what the subject matter was when I chose to watch it, because the description made it seem like it was historical fiction/fantasy for youth. However, if you are a fan of that genre, you will like this and it has the added bonus of being set in the time of true events occurring as a result of the Inquisition. The set, props, photography, costumes and acting are extremely well done and completely immerse you in the world.

Well Made Film of a Boy Caught Up...
in the early years of the Reformation. Although the film is fiction, it captures something of the flavour of the early years of the Reformation. Luther has been arrested, but his letter has been smuggled out. A nefarious inquisitor will go to any means to stop its printing., Enter the printer's son and apprentice.. What the film does not mention of course is that this is the beginning of Europe's Wars of Religion - a century or more of killing that reduced central European populations by a third or more. Slaughter, starvation and disease claimed the lives of millions. As for the film, the production values are very high. The settings, from the cathedral church to a maze of city sewers are all 1st rate. The actors are strong. The only negative is the use of dubbing rather than subtitles.

Well produced film.......
Although I don't often watch religious based films, the title intrigue me so much I threw caution to the wind. The fact is, the two young actors, though supported by an excellent ensemble, pretty much carried this entire film. It reminded me of Hugo in relation to a boy running from the law, but the subject matter is much darker. The script is excellent and the cinematography is better than some films I've watched with bigger budgets. If you would like to see how our history played out during the early 1500's, you should definitely give this a watch. I really liked this movie.......

Solid story
I'm a big fan of Martin Luther I wrote a +20 page paper on him in college. This movie, while not having Martin Luther in it directly does a good job of showing what things were like. There was a very real danger to all of Martin Luther's followers and supporters and of there being spies for the church selling them out and that is reflected in the story.Overall I think it is worth watching if you enjoy the history of it if not you likely won't find it as enjoyable as I do, but it is still a good story.

Make sure you watch Storm Luther's Forbidden Letter..Excellent..
It's been along time since I've seen this quality in a family movie....shows me that they can and we need more... excellent writing and accuracy in historic fact...fast paced and the main two characters were perfect for their parts...You will not be sorry when there is so much junk out there to watch something you will really enjoy ...and don't have to regret...with a message..

Family friendly & nicely done
What an enjoyable movie. I knew the film was voice over, but it didn't once interfere with my viewing. The acting was very credible. The two youngsters played off against each other quite well, and I enjoyed Storm's mother's shift in focus. I don't know the period well enough to know if it was depicted accurately, but it took me to another space and time. It was a visual triumph. No bad language or suggestive scenes so, very family friendly. Highly recommended.

This movie was great!
I really enjoyed Storm even though it was an English dub over! There was no cussing which I appreciate in a movie. They did a good job with the time period and the whole theme of persecution for believing the truth rather than the government enforced religion reminded me again of what freedom costs. They show a murdered man that might disturb some younger peeps, but I think they did a great job to draw in a younger crowd who may not know what others have suffered to achieve. Religious freedom didn't just get handed to anyone! I'm glad they bring that to light in this film. Great historical fiction, but the historical makes it a little heavy so keep that in mind!
