Makes a big difference when viewing many nebulae.
I decided to purchase this filter based on excellent reviews in Astronomy magazine and on Cloudy Nights. I recently had the chance to try it out in moderately light polluted skies. When viewing the Lagoon Nebula (M8) it made a big difference. It also helped increase contrast with the Dumbell Nebula (M27) and the Ring Nebula (M57). One thing I really like about it is that it doesn't turn everything green like my other UHC filters. It gives the stars a slight reddish tint but it's hardly noticeable to me. This "cosmetic second" filter showed a couple tiny pinholes on the filter surface, but these don't seem to affect the performance at all. I decided to get the 2" cosmetic second NBP filter as well.

Very nice filter.
Very nice filter. On the first one I received the threads did not mesh well with some of my eyepieces. That must be the "2nd". However I contacted the seller and he sent me a replacement that worked better.

Fantastic Deal! Highly recommended.
Amazing contrast. I bought the 1.25 inch only. DGM's web site offer's a 1.25 and 2 inch cosmetic seconds combo. I bought mine from Amazon. As promised, I could not see any issues optically. Maybe I saw the pin hole. I'm not even sure. I think I got a real deal here. I'm attaching a sample of the Orion Nebula on the NexStar 5Se 20 sec exposure. I researched this filter and found many found it better than the Lumicon UHC filter! I also use this filter to locate planetary nebula using the blinking method e.g. the Ghost of Jupiter, which looks like a blurry star without the filter. With the filter, I can just make out the nebula. I'm trying to image it and will use the DGM for sure to bring out contrast. Also, check out reviews on Cloudy Nights site.
