Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo Cardio

I love this workout
I have loved this workout for years. I have done other workouts and always return to this one. I have been reading other reviews and I agree that it is not as intense as the ripped dvds but that is what I like about it. I feel that it is not realistic to want to get totally fit in one month. I feel that it is too hard on your body and can cause injury. My husband was doing a 30 day video and said that he never had a minute that his muscles didn't hurt. He did it for the 30 days and his look improved but I don't feel that it is healthy to do that. Your muscles need time to recover!I did the 30 day one for a week or two and ended up dreading it and quitting. Tae Bo Cardio is steady and I feel that the warm up. cool down, and the workout are unique and target muscles such as outer and inner thigh and triceps, etc. that don't always get much work or stretching. I did this workout for two months and saw great improvement in my muscle strenth and tone and also in my wind. After two weeks, it was a little easier and I was able to push myself harder. I could tell after the two weeks that I was stronger. I could feel it throughout my daily activities and those results made me want to keep going. I do think that you definately get out of it what you put in. If you hold your stomach in the whole time you are working arms or legs, you get that much more benefit to your abdomen. I like how he paces you and changes things so that just when you think one muscle group is going to die you switch to another and rest the one. I do find myself just going into the cardio part and skipping some of the slower instruction now, but at the beginning it was great to learn the correct form, etc in order to not injure myself and to gradually build my abilities if I haven't done it for a while. One more thing that I love is his reference to teaching balance and center of gravity and the kick boxing that helps me learn a little self defense while I am exercising. I recommend this video because it is just right to be able to keep up the workout long term and really see the results.

great intermediate workout
Tae Bo Cardio is probably the best Tae Bo workout DVD I've done thus far - and having done the classic, live, and get ripped series, that's saying something. What makes this Tae Bo DVD such a great buy is the greater attention to proper warm-up and cool-down, including ramping up the exercises gradually, instead of throwing you immediately into high-intensity moves that could cause injury or strain. There's also more of a focus on even movements, more attention paid to proper form, and of course, Billy Blanks's motivational speaking to keep you focused on the workout. It is true that the music is somewhat repetitive (it's a simple hiphop track), but it's simple to fix by turning down the volume and playing your own music. The other benefit of this particular soundtrack is a certain consistency lacking with the other Tae Bo videos.Billy Blanks, unfortunately, still has trouble making calls for the television audience, so you have to reverse the cues if you want to mirror the workout on screen. Also, if you're looking for an extremely intense workout, you won't find it here, unless you're a beginner (in which case, it will be intense). This 40-minute workout is great for a beginner or intermediate exerciser. For the beginner, it will provide a challenging yet balanced cardio workout. For the intermediate level, it will provide a solid workout that will leave you sweating, but not winded. For advanced exercisers, you might want to skip it, but I'd still recommend it as a great, easy workout for you. If you're intermediate-advanced and you want a really good kickboxing-based workout, try the Elite Forces DVDs.The bottom line with this DVD is, you'll get out of it what you put into it. If you put in a lot of energy and movement, flexing your muscles and really putting your heart and focus into it, you will really sweat and have a great time. Like any other workout video, if you just go through the motions, you'll only get a certain amount out of it, and will likely be bored with the soundtrack and annoyed by other less-than-perfect elements (like the directionally-challenged cues).

It is not Advanced, but more Basic
I have been using the advanced versions of the Taebo Live and Get Ripped and it burns the calories for sure. What I do like about this DVD Tae-bo Cardio is that the counts are more accurate, the timing more on point and the moves are instructed better. All this within 45 minutes. The cardio is 25-30 minutes and the cool down is the rest of the DVD. I thought with this more on the basic level that it would not pump me up, but wrong, it does for sure. The Blanks also have switched the DVD/technical aspect to GoodTimes which does much of The Firm and Windsor Pilates DVD's, the whole presentation is more professional and organized. You will see his daughter, Shelley, but a smaller room size and less people exercising (about 10-12 in total). This makes the organization of the whole DVD better. But as in all Billy's DVD's folks are sweating up a storm for sure. I thank Billy Blanks for these DVD's it has helped me loose weight, gain strength and tone all the areas that need it (abs, waist, hips, etc), if you do these exercises at least 4 times a week you will see a major difference in 30 days, guaranteed. Billy, I am waiting for another new advanced DVD!!!

Great workout, just not intense enough for me.
I started my tae-bo journey with the fat-blasting cardio dvd. So I came in the door with a high intensity workout. This is the dvd I put in on days I dont feel like working out, but I still get a good workout. The good thing about this dvd is, it is easy for beginners to follow along. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you will not accidentally throw out your shoulder with this one. The warm up and cool down are longer than the other dvds(about 20 mins total I think) and the other half is the cardio. Alot of the moves on here are on the fat blasting cardio dvd, but you do them slower. He did add a few new moves though. Overall you get a great workout without a major strain on your body. I am a beginner and this was EASY for me. So I recommend this to the beginner and the advanced if you want to work up a good sweat, burn calories and get in shape!!!

Great work out!
Forget all the boxercise and boxfit - this is the real deal. It's not a nosebleed work out like his older Advanced work outs but it's just right at approx 45 mins long. All the usual moves and enthusiasm. At the end of the day, you get out what you put in. And it has the usual crew of Shellie, Gilliane and AJ (or is it HJ?).

Excellent!
I've done Tae Boe way back when it got popular, when it was on VHS. And I remembered loving it. I bought this DVD to see if I could get back into it. I was a bit rusty with certain moves and got some problems with my coordination. But I know it will come back soon. The warm-up and cool down are the best I've seen. Most DVDs I have don't take a lot of time either warming up or cooling down.I also liked the fact that I can do most of the moves without having to move around too much. I live in a small second floor appartment and I woudn't want to make too much noise for my downstairs neighours. But even without moving around I did sweat a lot and raised my cardio. I must admit I'm aiming more at gaining muscle strenghts and flexibility than actual cardio. I play squash 2 to 3 times a week and this is meant to make sure that my body is conditionned and can take the stress of the game without injury. I'm very pleased with this workout.

Too slow
I have many DVDs of TaeBo at home. Been doing his workouts for about 2-3 years, about 2-3 times a week. This DVD is really for beginners because it is quite slow. Some movements are a little bit challenging but most of the are not. Warm-up and cool down are both way to long for actual workout time. Will combine the workout with other 10-15 minutes workouts that are more challenging to compensate.

consigliato!
