Chemistry for Changing Times 13th Edition

The book was required reading for my College intro chemistry course. I found it readable, but some of the more technical elements leave a little to be desired in the way of explanation. They do assume that you have some foundation, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.The Masting Chemistry addition to the text- also required for my class- was a pretty good e-learning resource. I don't typically like E-text as I like to flip back and forth when working on homework and referencing different things, but I found the search function amazing.If you are on a homework question and you can't find where in the text it is referencing you can type in key words like "pollution" as an example and it will give you different chapters to quicklink to where that term is references and also give you the definition if it is a glossary term. Really useful!.The downside was of course the price as I feel that $160 for a class book is a little overboard, but that is about par for the course in this genre... doesnt make paying it any easier though.

I bought this book as a text for class I am taking. This book is interesting as it is current and has real world application references. The section and chapter reviews are helpful in reinforcing the readers retention of the material and comprehension. I like the Green Chemistry sections at the end of each chapter. I feel it brings the lesson around full circle.

This really is a great text that brings chemistry concepts into the forefront with practical uses as seen in everyday life. I would teach this book by itself, but along with a regular general chemistry text. I gave this four stars only because there is no mention of equilibrium!! Why on earth I have no clue.

This book is the perfect substitute for the 14th edition if you don't wish to shell out $168 to buy a used one. There is no difference in the content besides a couple of changed pictures and the slight change in the format. The Book had some issues regarding it but the seller was very understanding and handled the situation immediately. Thank you very much for the unbelievable service!

Amazon is a great way to buy text books for much cheaper than buying them in a college bookstore. The book was a little worn but more than did the job for the semester it was needed for.

4 stars because I don't like Chemistry.Buuutt the Amazon process went super smoothly. The book was at a super good price and I received it within 3 days after buying it.

I need this text for my class and I have my midterm in 2 weeks so I don't have time to wait for a replacement!! I am VERY angry! This item was delivered today and it is completely soaked through the box and all the pages. I spend nearly $150 for a pile of wet pages??? I can't even read the book since the pages will simply tear and of course this book will be useless to resell even after it's dried since no one will want it in this condition. I have ordered many books before from different sites and I have never received a package in such a horrible condition! It's not 'a little wet', it's completely soaked! I don't care if it's amazon's fault or the mail carrier in the US or in Canada, all I know is that this is an UNACCEPTABLE condition for a NEW book!

Very user friendly: nice review sections and easy to digest information. For students who have not had chemistry, this will make an intimidating subject a lot more comprehensible.
