Perfect for a no-wi fi home
This is almost an exact replica of a receiver that I had to replace. Can't have wi-fi in the house dueto how it excites mold and makes it grow. So grateful this product was available. The sound from this receiver is par excellent. Clean and well packed product. Thank you.

Good buy for the Money
Works great, in very good shape for a used receiver. Great sound and tuning ability. Replaced by 40 year old Marantz.

Very good 2-channel receiver
Met or exceeded my expectations. Nothing bad to say about it.

it just sounds good. It has an honest 50W per channel power ...
15 years on and this is still the heart of my living room system. I have no plans to replace it. Bought this as part of my first ever "real" stereo, along with a matching Onkyo 6 CD changer (no longer with me) and a pair of Acoustic Research AR 215PS bookshelf speakers. The reasons I've kept it are numerous. For one, it just sounds good. It has an honest 50W per channel power output, hefty heatsinks on the components, and a good sounding phono preamp. Now, in 2016, here's what I have connected: Phono input: Pioneer PL12-D turntable. CD input: Apple Airport Express for audio streaming. Tape2 input: My television, which luckily has an analog output. On the output side, it's connected to a cheap (but serviceable in a small room) Polk PSW10 subwoofer and then to the aforementioned AR 215PS. All of this adds up to very satisfying stereo sound in a small living room. I keep considering upgrading the speakers, but never the receiver. As long as I have no desire for surround sound, even if I need a digital input, I'll probably just keep the Onkyo and use an external DAC. It's really that good.

Still works and sounds great for an old 50watts per channel! No problems yet. Been using it for PC and blasting music all these years. Not great for movies since its not designed for anything but AB stereo. I own a Denon AVR 3310CI for our theatre needs. Obviously you can't compare the two but I keep a good stereo till it is dust.

Onkyo TX-8211 Stereo Receiver
After my 21 year old Sony STR-AV460 receiver lost sound on one channel, I began searching for a replacement. I was already impressed with the Onkyo surround sound system (HT-R320)I bought 2 years ago to go with a big screen television, and after studying reviews in Consumer Reports and the Amazon web site decided to stay with Onkyo. The TX-8211 was easy to set up, since all I had to do was swap over the speaker, phonograph, CD player, and tape deck connections already in place. The sound quality is a major improvement over my old receiver (which had probably suffered some gradual deterioration over the years) - no distortion, and significantly more vlume output. My only disappointment is that the FM sensitivity is the same as the old equipment (and the other Onkyo receiver, for that matter). I had hoped I might get better reception of some of the weaker stations in my area (Boston 'burbs), but I presume a better antenna is needed to address that issue. Bottom line: nice unit, great price, and very quick delivery from the vendor (J & R Music/Computer World).
