Hatch Restore 3 Sunrise Alarm Clock, Sound Machine, Smart Light (Greige) - White Noise, Screen-Free Sleep Routine

I have been a deep sleeper my whole life (setting five alarms in the morning and not waking up to any of them), and this hatch alarm has significantly helped with my sleeping routine! The sunrise lights up my room without any blue light, which is especially helpful for winter and early morning wake-ups. The app also allows you to choose your sunrise colors/brightness/alarm sounds so you can definitely find something that works for you. A plus is that you can play white noise/ other sounds while sleeping! One of my favorite features is the bathroom light on the side of the alarm that is super easy to turn on/off so you don’t ruin your eyes with overhead lights. You can also turn on the light in fun color-ways at the front of the alarm during the day! Finally, I love how the alarm looks on my nightstand-it’s the perfect size and it matches my decor perfectly. You can also turn on and off the clock during the day and night and dim the time for readability at night. Love this alarm clock!

I don’t usually write reviews, but the Hatch Restore 3 has honestly been one of the best purchases I’ve made for my sleep and overall routine. First off, the design is beautiful—minimal, modern, and it actually looks aesthetically pleasing (which is rare for tech). But what really makes it worth it is how thoughtfully it’s designed for better sleep. The sunset feature at night has completely changed the way I wind down. Instead of scrolling on my phone, I now have a gentle, gradual dimming light paired with calming sounds that signal to my body that it’s time to rest. It’s helped me fall asleep faster and feel more relaxed at bedtime. The sunrise alarm is just as impressive. Waking up to gradually brightening light instead of a blaring alarm has made my mornings feel so much less jarring. I feel more refreshed and less groggy, which is something I didn’t think a device could actually fix. I also love how customizable everything is—from light colors to soundscapes to routines. You can really tailor it to what works best for you. The sound quality is great too, whether you’re using white noise, nature sounds, or guided meditations. One thing I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is having a consistent nighttime and morning routine built in. It’s helped me be more intentional about sleep, which has made a noticeable difference in my energy levels during the day. If I had to mention a downside, it would be the subscription for full access to content—but honestly, I’ve found it worth it for how much I use it. Overall, the Hatch Restore 3 feels like more than just an alarm clock—it’s a full sleep system. If you’re struggling with winding down at night or waking up feeling exhausted, I would 100% recommend it.

I love this alarm! To me, the Hatch Restore 3 is the best alarm clock one could get. I hated waking up to my traumatic iPhone ringtones, and was getting poor quality sleep, AND my room gets such bad sunlight, so I decided to get this hatch alarm. And I'm so happy I did! I love the way it looks, and I love the way it wakes you up gently with light, just like we as humans are supposed to. Not only is waking up now less dreadful, but I can tell throughout the day I am much more well rested with this alarm. Additionally, I didn't even know this when I bought it, but this alarm is amazing for winding down before bed. I've been having trouble falling asleep recently but with the Hatch subscription, there are so many wind-downs/meditations you can pick from as a night-time wind-down routine. Personally, I love this as I have been getting into meditation recently and it really helps to clear your mind before bed. The knobs on the top are also very intuitive and it is very easy to adjust volume, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this alarm! Thank you, Sunny (thats what I named mine haha)

I first heard about the Hatch sunrise alarm clocks last year and only recently decided to purchase one in the Cocoa color. After a week of using it, I’m really enjoying the experience so far. You’ll have to download the Hatch app to get the device set up and what stood out to me right away was the thoughtful user experience which was evident even during onboarding. One challenge I often face is knowing when to put my phone now before bed. If I lose track of time, I can easily end up scrolling on my phone for an hour or two, which throws off my sleep schedule. I love how I can personalize my wind down routine with the Restore by playing calming sounds (my favorite has been the sunset south baths so far), as well as listen to a short meditation to ease into sleep. I also appreciate waking up to light and a pleasant alarm, rather than the same iPhone alarm I’ve relied on for years. There is a bit of a learning curve at first because of all the customization options, but it’s easy to get the hang of.

Loving my hatch and all its options for sleeping and waking up. There are steps into a sleep routine that starts an hour or so before actually wanting to go to sleep. I like the unwind setting especially. Its so calming and relaxing to have a sound bath or nature sounds going while I'm unwinding for the night. Waking up to light and gentle sound has been the biggest game changer for me! I have such a hard time waking up to my alarm. Its so easy to snooze. I like that with the hatch even if I snooze the alarm, the light stays on because thats what really wakes me up. I still have the hatch + subscription, but I am curious to see whats available for free! The hatch is also stylish, has good sound, and nice hues for the light setting.

Don’t let the subscription deter you, this alarm clock is completely usable without it. The monthly subscription is mainly for more sounds and bedtime stories, plus 2 added steps to your sleep/wake routine which are ‘Unwind’ and ‘Morning Moment’. I’d suggest setting up some routines while on the free version, to get the feel of it first; then get the free trial and immediately cancel it, so you don’t get charged but can try it out for a month. If you realize that you like the subscription version more than the free: the monthly price is $5 totaling to $60 a year, and the yearly subscription is $50. The sunrise feature is super customizable, you can have the dim lamp go very bright within 5 minutes or up to an hour. There’s 28 different sleep sounds, 12 sunrises, and 13 alarm sounds to choose from without a subscription. Hatch claims this alarm is science-backed in lulling you to sleep but also waking you up gradually and peacefully. Listening to sleep sounds definitely helps me stay asleep for most of the night; whereas before, I’d wake up numerous times every single night. Also I can for sure say that after having this clock for a few months, not once have I woken up to a jarringly loud alarm and jumped out of bed after realizing I snoozed all of my phone alarms. The biggest issue is that it relies on a constant WiFi/power connection. If a cell tower nearby goes down or there’s no power, you’re stuck without an alarm clock. (Aug. ‘24) I got the Restore 2 in the Putty color, it’s a lighter tan with a hint of pink. The video I included shows the Brown Noise sleep sound and the light color Evening Sun. There are instructions that come with the clock that tell you where to touch for adjusting the volume and light, how the two Rest/Rise buttons at the top work, and how to set up the clock within the app. It took about 10 minutes for my clock to connect and register/update, so don’t be worried if it takes awhile. Not only is this an aesthetic clock, but it’s also a sound machine, an alarm, and a curated sunrise. The ability to have a different alarm schedule is a huge bonus as well, especially if you have a differing morning routine depending on the day. Honestly, the price could definitely be lower ($170), but I believe it’s just about worth it over other options. !!! Update: I’ve had the Restore 2 for a year now (Oct ‘25) and had some sound issues for awhile, so I contacted support. The sleep sound that I rely on every night (brown noise) was cutting out after a few minutes and Hatch’s customer support was super kind and gracious. I was provided a replacement power cord and after the sound issue remained, eventually a replacement clock. Since they stopped making the Restore 2, I was genuinely surprised that I was given a free replacement/upgrade to the Restore 3! The only downside to the new model I noticed is that the Restore 3 is a bit taller and doesn’t have the easy touch options on the face. The light adjustment is now on the top right side edge (between the routine and light buttons), and the invisible touch sensors are hard to manage. The light button on the right side has only one setting (the app now lets you customize this!) and it’s great when you don’t want to turn on any sounds. Hatch support and products are amazing, they really care about their customers!! (Note: I was not influenced or paid for this, I simply wanted to provide a genuine review!)

My only real drawback is the subscription model. Given the device is already a significant upfront investment, it would be nice if more features were included without an additional ongoing cost. That said, even with that consideration, I’ve still found it to be a worthwhile addition to my routine and something I look forward to using daily.

Where it’s really been a lifesaver is during the winter months here in Canada. Waking up in the pitch black is brutal, but the gentle sunrise feature has made those mornings so much more bearable. It feels way more natural and less jarring than a regular alarm. Bonus: even our dog loves it! As soon as the wind-down music and soft “northern lights” colours come on at night, he trots over and settles in. Highly recommend this clock for anyone looking to improve their sleep routine—especially if you live in a place with long, dark winters.

Very disappointing. The hardware is good but the app is unusable. There is a lot of potential in this product but they will only realise it when they throw out the current app and rebuild it with ease of use and flexibility in mind. Honestly this industry is begging for a competitor to come in and show us how this can be done well. Unfortunately Hatch is not that (yet? 🤞). I'd love to return my Hatch 3 and wait for that competitor, maybe they never come but this $200 disappointment is not bringing me any joy.

Beware! You have to use an adapter to plug in and power up in the UK. Really annoying! Given the cost of the item I’m amazed it didn’t come with the right plug or an adaptor. Sloppy.

Love my hatch! I could not recommend this enough. It helps us get a great night sleep and the design is super sleek and aesthetic on our night table. Buy one, you will not regret it.
