Upgrade from my *2003* Quickbooks worked flawlessly! Pleased with speed and features
So far I'm VERY happy with this product. Only gave 4 of 5 stars and I'll explain why.I'm HAPPY because...- It converted *ALL* my data (so it appears) from my older *2003* version of Quickbooks. I expected a horror, but instead was delighted with ease data migration!- Fairly clear Installation Options, considering what appears to be a more complex DBMS than the older version- Useful dashboard that is running very quickly on my newer computer. Immediately getting useful insights from it- Upgrade price was reasonable- e-mail-integration setup worked without difficulty- Amazon.com download was simpleOnly FOUR of five STARS because...- Cannot keep the company file on a "file server" (Netgear NAS). ALL my small-business files are stored on a NAS for redundancy and cross-computer access -- having to keep the company file on a *LOCAL* drive of a single computer is truly NOT DESIRABLE, and puts me at risk of single point of failure. It also requires my "quickbooks computer" to be on in order to access my records on my 2nd computer.- Related to this, I couldn't even see my network drives without directly typing the \\SERVERNAME syntax- Some of the interface elements are restricted/dated, and ought to be updated IMO. For example, you can't multi-select in many of the lists, right-click, then take action. I think there's lots of room for improvement, and in the 15 years since the version I upgraded from, it looks like they haven't been that great as I'd have expected/hoped

QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018 for Small Business
Our small business upgraded computers and our accounting software. We've been using Quickbooks since 2008 and this software a little over a month. It was easy to import our previous version QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018. It did not, however, migrate our custom templates for invoices, checks, etc. We had to recreate each template. The Insights tab on the home page only works with accrual accounting and we run on a cash basis, so the data is less meaningful for us.One of the improvements was the ease in importing our accountant's changes and still be able to work on current billing. One caveat, if you do any reconciliations while the accountant is working on the books that cross the date you set for the accountants copy, when you import the changes, your reconciliations will be undone. A popup window will list all affected accounts. In the 2016 version the windows for general journal entry, Enter Bills, Create Invoices, etc. used to have a pane on the left which showed previous entries. This feature has been moved and it was a little frustrating trying to find the listings which have been renamed and are now under "My Shortcuts" on the Home Page. The "What's New" feature has been very helpful navigating some of the changes, but it can sometimes take over the software at unexpected moments.Overall it is working well for us.

Okay, but no 4K monitor support
I was hoping that QB2018 would support 4K monitors. It does not. You cannot even use the new multi-monitor mode unless your display scaling is set at 100%. Most 4K monitors need 150% or 200% for display scaling to be usable. The attached screenshot shows QB2018 running on a 4K monitor at a scale of 150%. Note the small text in some places, the truncated address bar, etc. Other areas in the program also exhibit very small text, especially in the payroll area. For other techies reading this, my system is a Windows 10 Pro system with dual 4K monitors running at 150% display scale. The qbw32.exe module reports itself to windows as being "system aware" of DPI Awareness. It obviously is not. In my opinion software should not report itself as being DPI aware when it is not. The default sandboxing that Windows does for non-DPI Aware apps would be preferable to running an app with tiny text and buttons.I had to upgrade to QB2018, since my QB2015 (which also does not support 4K monitors) will no longer support payroll in a few months. Other than the display scaling, the software works well.

Easy to use if you've used Quickbooks in the past.
Works as expected. I last purchased Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2011. This was very similar to that and easy to switch to. Walks you through getting a company set up with many helpful built-in account categories for most businesses. Remember if you "write a check" it doesn't mean you've "printed a check" so make sure you print it. You can also add your own check numbers. After a few have printed, it adds the next one in sequence.

Amazing service from Intuit
Amazing service from Intuit. Once I downloaded the software I had a terrible time moving my data from the old file. The folks at Intuit worked closely with me for 3 days to covert the files and assist me with the conversion. They were all exceptionally nice and very kind to a user who is NOT an IT expert my any stretch of the imagination. There were some negative online reviews from others, but I have to say the customer service was incredible! If you are upgrading from a program that is 4 years or older you will need Intuit's help!

New version works predictably like the previous one but with more bells and whistles
Successfully upgraded from 2007 version by using the intervening step of transferring data using the provided Accountant tool link from 2011. Did not need to buy that version or any other additional software to assist with the upgrade. New version works predictably like the previous one but with more bells and whistles. Was pleased to be able to keep 15 years of data history intact and begin to input current data seamlessly..
