Ajinomoto Hondashi Bonito Soup Stock in 35.2oz (2.2lb) box. Bouilion Pour Soupe De Bonito. Made from dried Bonitos essence and other fine ingredients, Hondashi Bonito stock is the number 1 seafood stock in the world! Product of Japan. What is Dashi?Dashi is the Japanese word for stock. It is in the heart and soul of Japanese cuisine! The best Dashi is a perfect, delicate balance of aroma, richness, and Umami. Dashi workd wonders by drawing out the flavors of other ingredients, while it orchestrates to create a mild, nuanced taste experience. Hondashi is simply the best way to make a great Dashi. Review: Good soup base and flavor enhancer - Bought this to make miso and other japanese style soups at home. It's a huge bag and still good years later. I like to toss this stuff into all sorts of other soups, on top of eggs, and on burgers for an extra flavor punch. If you don't like slight fish smells I would avoid this. Review: Love these fish stock. just like the ones in the japanese restaurants - if you've never had these, these are Hon Dashi japanes fish stock powder. you've probally had some type of soup or broth in a japanese restaurant. they mostly use these hon dashi stock. some are cooked and some use these. I have had both cooked and powder stock. and I can't taste the difference. these go great with soba or vegebables when you do shabu shabu. great buy for the price. if you buy individual packs they are 30% higher cost. i use it ofter so i purchased this bigger size. i would recommend getting the smaller size and see how you like it first.

Amazing and long lasting
This stuff is amazing. Also for what itโs worth, Iโm just now finishing the 2.2lbs (1kg) box I bought 8 years ago. Itโs still tastes the same as new. A little goes a long way.

Great flavor
If your take home egg-drop soup doesn't have the flavor of a higher scale establishment, add a little hondashi to fix it. Great with soy and honey to make a very delicious sauce.

My Go To Secret Ingredient
Okay people, this condiment is magic! When family and friends ask โwhatโs your secret ingredient?โ I smile, shrug humbly, and say love and hmm, umami! I use it in pretty much all my soups, tomato and cream gravies and sauces. A tsp or so will elevate them in a very subtle, but mouthwatering way.

Wise Purchase!
This is one of the most purchased ingredients used in Japanese cooking! If you prepare a lot of Japanese dishes, this would be something that you would use often. It is usually purchased in small packets (about a tablespoon amount), as it is concentrated in flavor and a little goes a long way! But purchasing it in small amounts will greatly increase its price!! Use it as a stock basis for making all kinds of Japanese soups: miso, wakame, etc. You can also use a little to deepen the flavor of stir-frys and other oriental dishes. Useful hint: keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator to last longer.

Always a quality product
I order for my Japanese stepmother, who lives in an area where it's almost impossible to get. She loves it, and i've used it myself in the past.
