HP Laserjet Pro P1606dn Printer - Old Version, (CE749A) (Renewed)

I've had this model printer for 15 years with absolutely no issues. Mine began picking up multiple sheets, so i decided to buy a remanufactured one and have my rollers changed. This was perfect - like new - out of the box. Hoping my old one will be good to use, since every printer I've bought since then - 6 of them , Epson, Brother, HP color all-in-ones - have not lasted and very expensive ink and repairs. Perfect for b/w basic printing needs.

In two separate transactions, over a year apart, I purchased two of these. They work flawlessly. The appeal is that the generic cartridges work fine with it. I can easily print over 5000 pages with 4 generic cartridges that are only $43 for all four.

I spent some 5+ hours trying to install this printer. Finally, in desperation, I decided to call the retail outlet which sold it -- this was not easy since Amazon was reluctant to release that number, but finally they did). When the support person called me back I told him that the documentation was totally inadequate. At first he tried to help me but when I told him I was trying to install the printer on the Macintosh, he told me that he was not familiar with the Macintosh, since they sold mostly to Windows buyer and therefore he was not able to help me! I was flabbergasted. But he also told me that I should connect with the Internet and he would send me a cable (which I had not received). Fortunately I had the old cable from the printer I was replacing which I inserted into the printer and my Macintosh. But the printer still did not work and the support person said goodbye. Since I had the approval to send the printer back I decided to do so although I would have to pay the shipping fee, but after a while I decided to continue my attempt install the printer since I have trained to use computers and to create sensible instruction manuals. With the new knowledge that the cable connecting to the Internet should be plugged in -- but counter indicated by the the instructions sent to me -- in the next half hour I was able to install the printer. However, the whole experience of my wasted time, really left a bad taste in my mouth. Although I have had generally very good experiences with Amazon, my experience with this computer outlet was deplorable. I therefore give this product one star

I have a dozen or so of these in the workplace as desktop printers in offices. Fast response. Good, dependable B&W printer. Long lasting print cartridges that are easy to change. A good option if one does not need scanning or color prints.

We use these all the time. Maintenance is on us because this model is not made any more. But, it is a great printer

Low page count and old style not WiFi... this is a great office printer. We have a couple! Got one with a 13000 page count... to replace one with a 300000 page count :)

The printer was packed VERY well. Once I unpacked it and installed the cartridge, I began using the printer immediately. I actually needed it for a project for which I needed to print LOTS of pages, and the printer has performed quite well. I noticed a day or so after I unpacked it that there was a part missing (just the cover that goes over the paper tray - not crucial). I contacted the seller and he immediately sent me the missing part. The printer works well, and the service was responsive.

Neither one of the two printers that we ordered work. This was a horrible purchase. I will not make this mistake again.
