Excellent 5GbE Adapter for Intel Macs – Plug & Play on macOS Sequoia I bought this adapter to unlock multi-gigabit speeds on my Intel iMac connected to a 10 Gbps fiber internet service. I was expecting to install drivers, but to my surprise it was completely plug and play on macOS Sequoia. I simply connected it to my Thunderbolt/USB-C port, plugged in my Cat 8 Ethernet cable, and it worked immediately. The performance exceeded my expectations: Download: 4.4 Gbps Upload: 4.7 Gbps Stable connection with very low latency No disconnects or overheating during testing Streaming is also noticeably smoother. Videos on YouTube and Netflix start instantly with virtually no buffering, even at the highest available quality. Build quality is solid, the aluminum enclosure feels premium, and the adapter remained cool throughout my tests. Used this adapter on a few computers Its based on realtek RTL8157 chip , so if you have a speed related issue, slower dowload or upload speed, disconnecting issue , go to your device manager / network adapters, look for a " realtek USB adapter " or something simillar and check the driver date if its says 2015 and not 2026, your pc deffinietly need a new driver for this adapter to work. Its impossible to find a driver base of the model number on the ugreen website : " ugreen cm848 " instead use google search for a "Realtek RTL8157" driver, as this adapter is built on that realtek chip. That driver mostly can fix all your issues :) Overall the product is working fine, no mayor issues, using it in the past 10 months

nice for mac, be carefull with windows lapto and pc, no so good compatibility with usb 3.1, most have usb 4

UGREEN has been putting out some real high quality items these days, and this adapter falls right in line. It works exactly as you'd expect it to. I've got it connected to a MacBook Air M4 and it's been functioning as good as I could imagine. No issues with the computer recognizing it and data speeds are definitely faster than WiFi. Quality appears to be pretty solid and while it can get a little warm, it's nothing I would be concerned with. Recommended.

Don’t do it!!! Go to all reviews and click on 1 star and read the comments. Most people don’t have a clue what they are doing… I see reviews comparing it to WiFi others super happy with 2200mbps speeds!!! It’s a “5000mbps” dongle!!! I own another one from another company! You can get these speeds with other brands. This thing is garbage. I bought it because I have a full 5G network and one of my 2.5G USB adapters failed so instead of buying another 2.5G I figured I’d add one more 5G adapter. Even talking to a computer that’s plugged into the network with a 25G fiber connection this thing doesn’t do consistent 1G/1G connections. I have 1gbit, 2.5gbit, 5gbit and 10gbit ports… it doesn’t work great with any of them. The only time it works decently is on a USB 4.0 full bandwidth port on one of my laptops and I still can’t get 5gbit with it!!! Also it’s not stable. I read it might work well with MAC so I’ll try it on my brother Mac Mini M3 and if it works well I’ll give it to him. Garbage

The product didnt work for me out of the box. I was using Win11 23H2. THe driver installed on my machine was from 2016 and windows update said there was no update available. I experienced the product crashing within minutes. I went to RealTeks website and downloaded the updated driver and it worked as expected. No more crashes and speed was as expected when testing my 2Gbps internet.

L'adaptateur a été reconnu nativement et immédiatement par MacOS, les débits que j'ai obtenu sont tout a fait conforme (plus de 4gbps), il est relativement compact et ne chauffe pas.

Works as intended on both Linux and Windows hosts. Note that the realistic throughput would depend on what USB port can deliver and what the network and do. Uploading terabytes of data from my older Thinkpads at 350 MB/sec (2.8 Gbps) without a hitch. Up/down iperf3 throughput with modern Thinkpad was 4.6/3.8 Gbps easily. Gets a bit hot under heavy use.
