Very entertaining movie. Jolie is gorgeous as always and has solid chemistry with Banderas. 8/10

Well I had heard of the movie title many years back.. So I decided to watch it for Free.. It seemed at first to me like a period piece movie..? I like Antonio and Angelina as actor's and have enjoyed their works before ... then around the middle of the film . It suddenly dawned on me... Where do I know this from.. Gotcha ..!! !! About a month ago.. I watched a French film with "C. Deneuve and J. Belmondo called "Mississippi Mermaid" ..? Another re-boot of a older foreign film. Hollywood did it again... lazy writer's and the only difference is the date of when the story begin's.. and the later part of the story. What sold this movie to audiences in 2001 was the "Explicit scenes" ..and the fact that A.J has a history with her male counter part's such as B.P in movies. I won't trash her ..but as a film lover ,especially one of movies made between 1935-1979... I hope that producer's would at least try to come up with material that isn't borrowed from film's where the original cast mate's are either "Deceased or near retirement"..?? I think they did a decent job.... but C.Deneuve is way better at portraying a grifter ..than A.J did in this movie. There is a lot of cat and mouse in this movie...

This is a story about love, as Bonny Castle would say. It's a story about a man and a woman from two different worlds, who come together in marriage, and find out what it really means to be one.Some would say this is a movie about a con artist who screwed her husband over. A con artist who was unworthy of the man she married. They might say she made her husband look like a fool. But truly, it is the con artist who is the fool, who managed to con herself into believing she could be nothing but the lowest of the low, even when the best was given to her.In both characters we see what could be seen as unconventional, cynical standards. Luis expected a homely, simple wife, not even expecting love. Bonny expected money, not expecting a husband that would accept her for all her flaws and help her fight her demons. The moral of this story could perhaps be that if a couple is willing, they can overcome obstacles in their lives and grow by marriage. But of course, there are always con artists in the real world who are just evil and cannot be helped.I would go as far as to say that Billy is the movie's evil. Billy offers everyone help, at a price. He does not advise on what is best for everyone, but what is essentially best for him. He uses Luis in every way but makes himself out to be a friendly ally. He does all he can to keep Bonny within her own limitations, which really just become the limitations set by Billy. The scratches almost like a marking on her very soul, as if to say her soul is his.Rounding up, I'll give this a 5 star review. I almost gave it 4 stars because the casing did not have any of those inserts that I like to read and look at. Bought this for around $9, which is excellent for a blue-ray price. I wanted this on Instant Video but Amazon does not appear to have it.

I missed this movie in the theatre... and being a Angelina fan (who isn't), i got the unrated version of the DVD expecting a movie that would make me blush. There is one scene near the beginning of the movie that reveals a little to much to be called rated R, and seems to go on a little longer than necessary (about a full 2 minutes)... but other than that, i can hardly see what must have been cut out of the rated R version.The plot of this movie is rather UNoriginal and predictable... but honestly, who watches an Angelina Jolie movie for the plot??? (think: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider). A woman decieves a man, the man falls in love with her, and in the end... the woman realizes that she loves him back... blah blah.HOWEVER, the visuals in this movie are incredible. The costumes, the scenery, Angelina's hair-do's, etc. are just absolutely breath-taking. It is a period piece - set in Cuba - and is very convincing in its setting.I'd reccommend this movie not for the steamy sex (you'll be disappointed at the lack of it), not for the plot (because you'll guess it quite quickly), but just for the georgeous scenery and costumes (and beautiful actress too!). If you like eye candy... (and i do)... this movie is definately entertaining, but don't expect much more.

So now I own it! Forget Antonio, and that's not easy to do, the lushness of the Cuban plantation and the wonderful music do a great deal to hold this movie together. True, Luis seems a little less wordly than you would expect a rich, prostitute user of pre revelutionary Cuba to be, but Antonio is able to carry that off. One of the most believiable scenes is Luis, drunk and longing for Julia, is bent on finding her to kill her. You hope that he does! The story is a bit strained but I grew up on this kind of love hungary "film noir" movie. All in all, it is intertaining and isn't that what this is all about? If we wnated plausable stories we wouldn't be watching a to be intertained but to be educated.I think this movie did educate, don't get me wrong, the love scenes between Julia and Luis were VERY educational and believable, i'm sure many would have loved to change partners with Antonio or Anjolina! I picked up something new every time I saw it. The DVD is what is needed to watch this movie and appreciate what the story is all about. One last thing, did anyon, besides me, pick up on who is singing the song at the end?

nel sito non è specificato che era in lingua originale e il venditore una volta contattato via e-mail si è prorogato nella restituzione del denaro che è arrivato celermente. Venditore consigliato, ma consiglio di specificare bene le lingue dei film.

Ho acquistato questo dvd perché volevo la versione non censurata del film con Banderas e la Jolie. Purtroppo è in Region 1 quindi inutile e illeggibile nel nostro paese.

--- Zum Film ---Bei ORIGINAL SIN aus dem Jahr 2001 handelt es sich um ein Remake von DAS GEHEIMNIS DER FALSCHEN BRAUT aus den Siebzigern mit Catherine Deneuve und Jean-Paul Belmondo in den Hauptrollen. Beide Filme basieren wiederum auf den Roman WALTZ INTO DARKNESS von Cornell Woolrich. Da der wendungsreiche Stoff des französischen Thrillers nahezu im Verhältnis 1:1 für das Hollywoodremake adaptiert wurde, handelt es sich also um kein modernisiertes Reboot.Im neunzehnten Jahrhundert stattfindend, stützt sich das Grundgerüst des Thrillers auf die etwas andere Liebesgeschichte zwischen dem Plantagenbesitzer Luis (Antonio Banderas) und der schönen Fremden Julia (Angelina Jolie), die er via Briefverkehr kennenlernt und alsbald ehelicht. Luis lässt sich stark von Julias optischen Reizen blenden und hinterfragt überhaupt nicht, ob eine Ehe mit ihr eine gute Idee ist. Das spielt der schönen Julia natürlich in die Hände, denn sie verfolgt ganz eigene Pläne, die nicht Luis, sondern sein beträchtliches Vermögen zum Gegenstand haben...Es ist schön, wie sehr die Filmemacher von ORIGINAL SIN der französischen Verfilmung huldigen und den Film so klassisch wie eben möglich anlegen. Kleine Details wie die Albträume der Protagonistin und eine ähnliche Kulissengestaltung der morgendlichen Terrasse finden Eingang in die neue Adaption, die sich eher auf den sinnlichen Aspekt der Geschichte als deren argkonservative Verhältnisse der Ehelichung verlegt. DAS GEHEIMNIS DER FALSCHEN BRAUT wirkt gegen ORIGINAL SIN geradezu brav und züchtig, während Angelina Jolie und Antonio Banderas auch vorm Blankziehen nicht zurückschrecken. An Jolies entblößten Brüsten dürfen sich die Zuschauer erfreuen, genauso wie an Banderas nackter Kehrseite. Die beiden sind wirklich häufig mit- und aufeinander zu sehen. Das Ganze wirkt aufgrund der Inszenierung allerdings weniger voyeristisch und plump, sondern erotisch auf eine subtile Art. Das Zusammenspiel der ästhetisch gehaltenen Kameraeinstellungen mit dem wunderschönen Score lassen diese Szenen einfach hübsch wirken und machen ORIGINAL SIN zum idealen Kandidaten für den Valentinstag, wenn's nicht unbedingt um die klassische Liebesgeschichte gehen muss.Beim Ende beweist Regisseur Michael Cristofer dann noch, einen eigenen Kopf zu haben, der die Filmvorlage vernachlässigt und dann vermutlich eher dem Roman WALTZ INTO DARKNESS gedenkt. Das Ende von Cristofers filmischem Erguss wirkt nämlich viel mehr ausformuliert, als es damals in den Siebzigern der Fall war, weil der Ausgang von DAS GEHEIMNIS DER FALSCHEN BRAUT doch recht offen gelassen wird.Hoffentlich wagt sich in Zukunft ein weiterer Regisseur an den Romanstoff von WALTZ INTO DARKNESS und modernisiert ihn für die heutige Generation "Dating-Apps". ORIGINAL SIN ist ein ästhetisch gehaltener Beitrag zur Romanvorlage, der dem bekannten Plot bis auf das Ende und der leichten Promiskutivität beider Hauptcharaktere filmisch nichts Neues abgewinnen kann. Für mich stehen aber sowohl DAS GEHEIMNIS DER FALSCHEN BRAUT als auch ORIGINAL SIN auf einer qualitativen Ebene, weil sie beide verschiedene Wirkungsansätze verfolgen und daher unabhängig voneinander für sich stehen können.--- Zur Blu-ray ---Das kleine Independentlabel Alive hat sich den Rechten des Hollywoodstreifens ORIGINAL SIN angenommen, der in vielerlei Hinsicht mit Antonio Banderas, Angelina Jolie und Thomas Jane (HUNG - UM LÄNGEN BESSER) außerordentlich attraktiv besetzt wurde. Dass Blockbusterstoff wie jener gerade bei einem kleinen Vertriebshaus landet, kann Fluch und Segen zugleich sein.Hier kann man aber durchaus von Segen sprechen, denn ORIGINAL SIN wurde den knappen geldlichen Mitteln entsprechend solide auf Blu-ray umgesetzt. Die generelle Körnung des Films kann man auf die erzielte Ästhetik des Regisseurs schieben, um den jahrhundertealten Plot optisch in ebensolcher Szene zur Geltung zu bringen. Die Farbgebung überzeugt durch satte und dunkle Trübungen, die viel zur Atmosphäre dieses prickelnden Erotikthrillers beitragen. Tonal sind sowohl Deutsch als auch Englisch in hochaufgelöstem DTS-HD 5.1 zu vernehmen. Effektreich ist ORIGINAL SIN von Hause aus nicht angelegt, aber es werden dennoch alle fünf Kanäle gerade für den erhabenen Score ausgenutzt. Gut besetztes Popcornkino verdeutlicht sich also auch in der technischen Umsetzung, an der meinerseits absolut nichts zu beanstanden ist.Die dreiundzwanzig Minuten an Extras in Standardauflösung sind dann auch eher das Standardprogramm. Die Interviewsequenzen mit Jolie, Banderas und dem Regisseur fallen arg kurz und wenig informativ aus. Das elfminütige Hinter-den-Kulissen-Spezial entpuppt sich als unkommentierte und daher recht unspektakuläre B-Roll-Aufnahmen. Den Sonderausstattungssektor kann man also getrost vernachlässigen. Das angefügte Wendecover ohne FSK-Flatschen ist dennoch als großes Plus zu werten, wenn es um die Gimmicks von ORIGINAL SIN geht.Die Blu-ray tut also im Regal nicht weh. Weder durch die Qualität des Films noch durch dessen qualitativer Umsetzung in HD hat man das Gefühl, ORIGINAL SIN würde wertvollen Platz in der Sammlung verschlingen. Kann man sich definitiv ins Haus holen und vielleicht neben die gelungene Blu-ray-Ausgabe von BASIC INSTINCT stellen - vier Sterne, extratechnisch könnte es meiner Meinung nach bei einem Hollywoodfilm dieses Kalibers wesentlich besser bestellt sein.
