Wires are color coded. Only two wires are needed for DSL or telephone. Use the red and green if you only have one phone line. If your phone will not dial out, switch the colors. Hardly any power used in phone lines. Do not be scared. Do it yourself

We had a wall mount landline in our kitchen. When we had the kitchen remodeled, the construction guys didn't ask if I wanted it relocated and I've been without a viable land line jack for about a year.I was able to find the old phone line in the basement and I got it up through the floor board and this Jack was perfect to attach to my baseboard. My only source of dissatisfaction were the directions. I didn't find them very clear because I had very old wiring. But I was able to find some YouTube videos that were very helpful and I was able to match up the wires and get it to work. I'm very pleased with the end result.

Residential landlines are only two wires. Usually red and green. The line coming in from the outside was Cat5e, which is to say four twisted pairs. Not a problem. This box has the phone jack on the front. Wired to four screw terminals on the inside. Two wires from the incoming cable, pair up with the two for phone and you're good to go. One plus I found... There are two thinner spots on the sides of the cover that match up with spots on the box allowing for side entry. This was just what I needed. A heavy duty scissor snipped out the "cap" and I was able to wire the incoming cable down into the side and face the phone jack to the left for easier access and not having to make a sharp turn in the wire.I believe the Leviton company has been around for years and this product -simple though it is- did not disappoint.

Exactly what I needed! Regular phone Jack's are becoming harder to find (at least in my area), neither of the big box lumber stores (Think Orange & Blue) carried flush mount - Neither did the W* superstore. I was very glad to find them here.Item worked as expected! Very pleased!

They have changed the design of these. And not for the better. The old type had a central screw and the terminals were placed far apart in each corner. This new design is all cramped together and very hard to wire when you’re sitting on the floor baseboard level and the cable is stapled. My hands are not very big but I don’t see how anyone with big hands could even get in there. The two places where the screws go in the back are obstructed by the preinstalled wires. I wanted to screw this in however I was afraid I would break the wires or clamp them down with the screws . So I’m relying on the sticky back to hold it in place, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in it. Leviton is my go to brand for electric devices. However this one is a fiasco. The reason I gave three stars is that these are hard to come by and at least they carry something. But a different design would be so much better. Why change what already worked very well?

Easy to install

Includes double sized glue pad to mount device without using screws. Screws will also work and they are included.The connections inside are easy to connect use. Notice that this jack in white. Amazon also sells an almost identical jack in ivory color which is the more traditional color of telephone outlets. See listing for Allen Products for the ivory color. I have used the white and the ivory products and they are both excellent products.
