Regent Medical Skin Cleanser, Antiseptic, 8 Ounces, Liquid. 24 EA/CS. Hibiclens Is an Antiseptic Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser Possessing Bactericidal Activities. Hibiclens Contains 4% W/V Hibitane (Chlorhexidine Gluconate), a Chemically Unique Hexamethy Review: Great for pre-op - Great antibacterial Review: Effective and surgeon recommended - I always get recommended this soap prior to surgery and itโs easy to see why. Itโs a watery solution but I end up needing very little. You just wet the skin, squirt a bit into the applying hand and rub where you need it cleaned. (You do this after washing everywhere else and do this last.) you can feel the slippery soap feeling where you apply it and know if you need more as that feeling runs thin. Once on the skin, it starts that cooling/heated/tingling antiseptic feeling like a rubbing alcohol type antiseptic feeling without the dryness. Thatโs usually when I rinse it off, about 20-30 seconds after application. Very noticeable clean but not overly chemical smell. Reminds me of that strong liquid hand soap smell in the 80s, still one you smell in some restrooms from time to time. I donโt think itโs supposed to lather and thatโs not an indication of soap working anyway. Donโt try to mix it with anything or it defeats the purpose. The medical version is dyed bright pink but if youโre paranoid about dyes despite this being strictly for external use, they do have an undyed version. They dye it for use in hospitals so it isnโt mistaken for anything else (which is often the purpose of dyes in cleaners). No issues with seal damage or leaking on mine either.

Hibiclens in the Shower
This is an unusual review about my Hibiclens experience. I first discovered it when it came in a packet for use before my outpatient surgery. Most of it went unused, so when I was in rural America where no showers were available, I would put some on a cloth moistened with witch hazel, and it kept me clean enough to be around others for weeks without a shower. Since then, I have been using Hibiclens as a second wash when I take a shower at home. It can extend the time before I need another shower by a day or more, depending. The proof that it works, for me, is at home, I don't feel a need for a fresh towel nearly as often as I used to. I mentioned this to a friend that I go camping & backpacking with, and he told me he used Hibiclens for washing his babies, but he never even thought of using it himself where showers were not available. That's two of us that fouond it works after a regular shower, and without an available shower as well. I use only a small amount after using a shampoo or body soap before I use it. Then, I use it only where it's needed. A four ounce container lasts me for maybe six months, plus or minus, when used this way.
