Fantastic picture quality, peace of mind
The media could not be loaded. I tried the Vantrue T2 dashcam on a whim. I love dashcams, cheap and expensive. I have a super cheap Kmart special in the Escalade right now and saw the T2 as an opportunity to upgrade. I have an X500 dual 1080p in my other car and a Uniden in my third. I have had this for two weeks now and especially wanted to see how the performance was on a few fronts:1. How did it work automatically?2. How easy was it to install?3. How was the day and night picture quality?4. Is the software easy to use?5. How is the user interface?1. It turns on automatically when using either the cigarette adapter or the really cool OBD2 adapter. It keeps recording as long as there is power and you have the option to stop recording when there is no movement. It also has what they call a "microwave" sensor (the tube end) that detects motion and will kick the camera on if something moves in front of the camera. I didn't get any recordings of this so perhaps I didn't have anything happen. It automatically deletes the oldest videos. I used a 64GB card so I didn't really run out of space. The files are about 282MB per 3min video clip.2. It was superbly easy to install. It includes a detachable suction cup that you simply twist the top to adhere to the inside of your windshield. You'll notice metal contacts on the suction cup, I assume that there is a GPS module built into it that talks to the camera. Pretty neat implementation. If you use the cigarette lighter it has a bright blue LED that tells you it's on. I find that kind of annoying. You can twist the blue LED cover and it reveals a USB port - handy for charging your phone. If you use the OBD2 adapter it keeps the camera powered at all times and lets you do recording for security purposes when you are parked. It has a battery failsafe in case it drains your cars battery to prevent leaving you stranded.3. Day and night picture quality is superb for such a small unit. I put it on par with my x500 1080p camera. License plates, vehicles, landmarks, street signs, etc are all easily identified day or night. I am VERY impressed with the night performance.4. There's no software. You just get videos. I wish it had some software like the Thinkware which ties in the metadata and shows you the speed/location on a map while the video is playing. It'd probably increase the price but it's handy in case you need to give a good presentation.5. The user interface is fine - nothing special to write home about. The biggest gripe is that the buttons are on the bottom of the camera. You have no idea what you're hitting while looking at the screen.Overall the performance is very good - quality is good for a brand new product. The unit sits easily behind a rear view mirror out of the way. The cables are more than long enough so you can stash them behind your headliner and A pillar to reach your cigarette lighter or OBD2 port. It comes on and turns off automatically.

Your Ultimate Driving Partner!
The media could not be loaded. This camera has 1080p full HD, so it provides good quality imagingThe dash cam looks aesthetically pleasing. It isn't bulky and the screen is the perfect size. Once you mount it onto the windshield, it remains behind your rearview mirror, so it is out of your way. You just have to tuck the plugs out of sight, and you're set to go!The menu is easy to navigate through. The parameters are easy to set up, and it wasn't difficult to view the videos/images on the dash cam while it was powered in the car, as well as when I connected it to my computer. The instruction manuals came in two formats, one was a quick start and the other was more detailed. They were comprehensive and thorough, telling you everything that you need to know.On the dash cam, without going into the menu, you can turn the sound option on or off. There’s also a button for night vision right next to the rewind button. Critical dash cam operating buttons can be found on the product without having to access the menu, which is pretty convenient.Should you decide to install it through a cigarette lighter, as soon as you turn the car off, it no longer records and turns off. If it is plugged into the OBD port, it has a continuous recording option with a G sensor in parking mode. The great aspect of this is that the G sensor detects collision, so if someone hits your car while it is parked, it can detect the exact time aside from recording it. The only downside is that since it does not have a rear camera, it cannot record if someone hits you from behind. Nevertheless, it is a great camera which is an essential to have in that it can save you thousands of dollars when it comes to proving your innocence to insurance companies. Some issues I came across are as follows:The hinge that connects the camera to the suction cup (which mounts to the window) is a bit flimsy. If you try to take a standstill image by pressing the "!" button next to the "ok" button, it moves the dash cam. Despite tightening the knob as much as possible, it still moves around. It isn't as sturdy as I had hoped. Nevertheless, I didn't experience movement of the dash cam while driving at higher speeds or if hitting potholes.Something I noticed about the cigarette lighter cord is that it was difficult to press the sides. However, you can still use the OBD power port to set your camera up. The box it came in was a bit damaged, but that did not affect the camera nor did it affect my review as I am aware that it is not the manufacturer’s fault. When it comes to inserting the memory card, you have to insert it underneath the rubber that says “reset” right above the USB port. It is located to the left side of the screen. Initially, it was difficult to insert the SD card because I didn’t realize where the opening was. The manual shows a diagram of where the memory card goes, but on the actual dash cam, the opening is covered by a rubber tab. While the dashcam is running on a power source, inserting or removing the memory card turns off the dashcam. This becomes an inconvenience if you’re navigating through the menu and it shuts off upon inserting/removing the card.Although this dashcam is on the pricier side, I think it is well worth every penny spent. They live up to their motto—“Your Ultimate Driving Partner.”Overall, I would recommend this product for anybody who is looking for an effective dash cam.

Vantrue T2 Use as rear cam with a dusty window
The media could not be loaded. Tested the Vantrue T2 on my rear hatchback window. My car hasn't been wash for 6 months. Those who drive a hatch back knows that the rear window will get very dusty very quickly compare to a sedan. So I decided to test the image the T2 can reproduce with such as factors.Factors affecting the T2 Images :1. Dirty and dusty rear window(car not wash for 6 months)2. Cloudy weather on the day of recording.Verdict:1. car plates of other diver could still be visibly seen, even with all the patches of dust all over the window.2. image produced is more than acceptable. So given the conditions, T2 can still produce pretty good video. I'm confident that once I clean my rear window, the image produce will be desirable .Check out the video.
