Very good pruning tool.

Went out trail clearing with the ATV club the other day and everybody there, including me, were blown away by how much I got cut with this lite, little saw. 4 inchers easily dispatched and a great limber for some of the real heavy stuff that the gas machines were dealing with. Paired with my Flex 20/60V battery, I cut until I was tired of cutting and still had plenty of battery left. Will be taking this saw on the ATV, always.

We are currently clearing about 5 acres of land, by hand. We've got 18, 20, and 24" chainsaws but some of the trees are smaller and all of those were overkill, or we needed to be able to manuever in closer quarters so I grabbed this DeWalt. I know it says it's for pruning, and I know it says the max diameter is about 5" BUT I cannot tell you how many 10-12" trees I have dropped with this thing! We are cutting everything from gumballs (slices through like butter), to pine, hard wood oaks and even several iron woods (really winding elms, AKA as chainsaw killers) and this thing tackles them all. The lower profile means I can get super close to the ground, leaving a minimal stump. Others have mentioned the leaking oil. I have not experienced that. I can see where it would be very easy to get the dummy string to cap wound up in the threads when putting the cap back on and then the cap won't seat right. Battery life will ultimately depend on your battery, not this unit itself. We're out there cutting for hours and hours, so we take extra batteries and switch out as needed. The unit comes with a tool for chain tightening, but I found the traditional chainsaw tool to be easier to work with instead of the thin tool they give you. That tool does work, but if you have the traditional "T" tool, it will also fit the nut. Like regular saws, this does not like vines and heavy piles of pine needles and those will both a chain faster than anything. Be mindful of that. The chains are going to get dull over time, just inherent to a chainsaw in general. I had no problems with the original chain, but it has long since been switched out. This unit is light enough to operate one handed when needed, but durable to cut through the larger trees at the stump. As I write this review, I can't think of a time when I actually used it on a limb or to prune because I'm going after the tree itself. I found that I can make better time and clear much more with the smaller saw than pulling out the 18" saw. Obviously we're using the larger saws, also, but this little thing is super efficient for sapplings and anything where the big saws are just too big. I bought this in July of 2026 and have used it at least every weekend since, long hours all weekend, and several days after getting home from work. If it died tomorrow, I will have more than gotten my money's worth for the $149 I paid for it. This is far and away one of the best purchases I've made, both in value and and work efficiency. And for something really ironic, we were at HD earlier this evening, grabbing more chains and oil, and started talking to the sales associate about this unit. He said he'd been on the fence about purchasing one and whether it would be sufficient for this needs (pruning) but after talking to us and hearing what we've been using it for, decided to buy. Highly recommend this unit. It is way more capable than the description, super easy to manuever, and worth it's weight when it comes to getting the job done. For reference, I am a 51 year old female that can easily handle a 20" regular chainsaw, so this was not something I purchased just to play in my garden or trim my rosebushes. When I say we are clearing land, we are clear cutting for pasture and some of these trees are well over 50' tall and probably just as old.

I bought this saw to handle small to medium sized trees and branches on a piece of property I bought up in the mountains. I could not have had a better tool on me to get the job done. The battery life is fantastic lasting me through an entire weekend of cutting underbrush, branches, and small trees on a single battery/charge. This saw is worth every penny and is a workhorse. I've had no issues with the saw and have used it for many weekends already and I have yet to have to sharpen it. The blade that comes stock is highly durable and has remained sharp with proper use. This saw adds the perfect combination of comfortability in your hands with good length and reach. I have yet to find a situation that it has had issue with. Definitely a must have for property owners who need a tool much lighter than a chainsaw that can last all day for all of that pesky underbrush and small trees that a chainsaw is just simply not practical for.
