GarrettACE 250 Metal Detector Deluxe Sports Pack

Let me begin by echoing the praise this detector has received from others. For the price you won't find a better detector, period. That being said, if I were to make this purchase all over again, I would purchase the basic ace 250 with the standard coil. I'd hold off on the 9X12 coil and purchase the 4.5" sniper coil instead. I would also recommend an extra upper/lower pole assembly and bolt set. This allows you to quickly switch between coils with much less hassle. The sniper coil is more versatile than the 9X12 and makes it easier to learn how to distinguish exactly what's under the detector (target isolation). The only exception to this recommendation would be if you're intent is to use this detector solely on the beach. If that's the case, get the ace 250 with the standard coil and the Garrett pro pin-pointer. Be sure to purchase a decent set of headphones and coil covers. The sports package includes headphones which aren't so great (no volume control), and I'm all set with the duffel bag, weather cover and treasure hunters book. All three coils are great but if you're just starting out you really don't need everything right away. Take time to learn your detector, don't get discouraged by trash there's a lot of it and it's everywhere.

I have 3 metal detectors for a small club, 2 Bounty Hunters (QDII and Lone Star) and the Ace 250. All are easy to learn, easy to use. The Bounty Hunters seem to be made a little sturdier. Pinpointing with circular coil is much easier to learn than the pinpointer function of the Ace 250.Beeping on what has been eliminated is a negative as is the fact that the cuffs on the Ace series seem to be prone to breaking.As for finding metal, all three do a fine and similar job. Coin depth on the QDII and the 250 are both fairly accurate.Headphones are incredibly cheap. I use a different set. The carry bag "just" fits if you leave the smaller coil on. Also not made as well as the Bounty Hunter but the Garrett is more compact. Dust cover protects the thin film that covers the display. Would not use the detector without it.3 stars for construction, 4 for use.

This is a great light weight mid-range detector. I have already found all kinds of coins and various other treasures.Fairly new to the hobby.My buddy bought a different brand and a more expensive model. Mine has outdone his at every turn.The discrimination feature is a plus. My old detector had the feature but would not work like this one.The pinpoint feature is not as accurate as I would like it to be... I would gladly purchase this detector again.

If you are new at Metal Detecting, DO NOT BUY a cheap detector, you will frustrated and you will move on to another hobby. Garret Ace 250 does more than expected. It will tell you somethings there. Where the location is with a powerful "pinpointing" system. Depth of Treasure, but the BEST PART, It will tell you 95% of the time, what the Treasure is BEFORE YOUR DIG! No Ground Balance needed, turn on and go. You will find this great for kids too. It get's you off the couch and get's you moving. Really nice product. Very happy and will not need to buy another one for years. Very well built, it can be dropped. -Roy M

This product is JUNK! JUNK!! JUNK!!! If your looking for a metal detector look at Whites Detectors!!! and plan on spending $1000 dollars at least,or dont buy one at all, you will be in the same boat as me,wasting $300 dollars on Junk!!! The ace 250 has alot of problems as far as depth, metal readout you name it!!! you never know what your digging or what it is. A gold ring showed up between iron and a 5cent piece,copper showed up as a $1 silver piece and so on!!! maxium depth readout was supposed to be 8plus inches HAH GOOD LUCK!!! Deepest target mine will read is 2 inches. I never found any items I listed, these were free air tests, the only thing I found was a nail!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! LOOK at all the used ones vs new that should explain my review!!!

I have been using Garrett Metal Detectors for over 30 years and have always loved them. Though it will take me awhile to get used to this one, I found a 1920s Mercury Dime the first time I used it. Needless to say I'm very happy with it. In my opinion, Garrett detectors are the simplest and most accurate detectors on the market and this one is no exception. It is much more sensitive and detects deeper than the previous I had, but both can be adjusted. I am looking forward to many hours of enjoyment hunting with this machine.

I know what I am digging out of the ground most of the time before I see it and I only make a small hole about two inches in diameter. Sometimes bigger because I have a large hand. it took me a couple of years to achieve this but it is a good detector. I grew with it really got to know it. i don't think you will find a better detector for twice the money you will pay for this one.

This was an expensive toy, that I have not used a lot it is very sensitive and it requires a lil more time then I have had to learn to tell between beeps

This is the bomb! So easy to use and I just love the accessories!

Been out to the beach twice with this and found allsorts, from a ring to anchor. Easy to use and so much fun, the only downside is that it is rather heavy, so after half an hour of hunting your arm begins to ache
