Most adults will find this mattress too soft a surface at first or too firm after the cotton compacts. In order to pass flammability tests per Federal Regulations, the cotton we use is treated with a small amount of borax. It's become so uncomfortable that it is painful. I am hoping to get another 4 months ...
Wish I could leave a more positive review. It's been 5 months since I bought this mattress and after flipping and turning every week it has rutted out where my upper body, hips and bottom rests and I weigh about 130 pounds. It's become so uncomfortable that it is painful. I am hoping to get another 4 months by flipping and turning and sleeping in areas that I basically haven't slept on. It's a heavy mattress and well made but perhaps this is how cotton mattresses are! I don't have any chronic pain issues but wanted to buy American made, natural mattress but this hasn't worked out at all for me. I might add a layer of foam or end up sleeping on the floor again.

Absolutely Fabulous!
I'm nuts about this product. It's been over a year now and the person using it loves it. Natural, no springs (radiation for 5g), chemicals.. ugh lol. My husband builds cell towers so I'm not a nut. Get rid of springs and spread the word! You act like an antenna. :)

Firm? Not right out of the box it isn't.
This futon is sized like the "short queen" found in some convertible couches. The length is actually 76 inches, width 58 inches. The expectation is that with use it will spread and flatten. When unrolled and allowed to fluff up uncovered for a full day, it is pillowy soft on my Ikea slat bed and certainly 6.5 inches thick. It looks well made with plenty of weight to it so one gets enough cotton for the price though quality is undetermined at this stage.

This is a cheap shoddy product. DO NOT BUY. The construction of the layers are not according to the description of the product. It is not the same product. It is more like a pillow for a dog.Their return policy is ridiculous. They provide no PACKING SLIP and ask the customer to provide it in order to return. They want the original packing material intact when the futon is expanded after opening it.They want me to pay for the return shipping.

The real deal.
This futon is the real deal which is difficult to find nowadays. All cotton, no artificial stuff. You have to flip it on a regular basis but if you take care of it, it will give you a great nights sleep. Very pleased with purchase.

Working as advertised. If you are purchasing for nightly use (as bed, versus as sofa/futon), I would recommend you consider either purchasing two of these or one of the models with natural foam layers.We have used only one as a regular-use bed but will probably purchase an additional mattress within the next year (using two), since the cotton has compressed (as specified by the manufacturer).

Love this mattress. Purchased it for my daughter as we switched her from toddler bed to twin and this is perfect; comfortable and without nasty chemicals. Love that it is 100% cotton. Very happy with the purchase.
