I was pleasantly surprised by how nice these bookends looked. In my case the bookends that I received looked very much like the photographs provided in the vendors listing. They were a great gift that went over very well.

These are so much nicer than I’d even hoped for! I purchased the largest set and I’m so happy I did. They are quite sturdy and can handle the weight of numerous heavy books. I was so thrilled that I just ordered another set… because why not?

I purchased a different set from another seller and it was disappointing. I returned and tried again with this seller and I am SO HAPPY I did. They’re perfect. I know crystals are different and you can’t expect what you’ll get, but I feel like you’ll be pleased.

So for me, I love the look. Besides varying a little from the picture, they were nearly exactly what I was looking for. To respond to some pervious reviews, here is my overview of the product and my thoughts.For starters, when I first opened the box I was super excited. I pulled it out and thought wow it's gorgeous. I set one piece down to pick up the other, but then I noticed, my fingers and hands were blue. When I touched the smooth/straight sides, nothing came off. It wasn't until I touched the more rough ends that I started getting blue kind of powder on my hands. I read a little more and learning from that, all I had to do to resolve the problem was rinse it under water and use a wash cloth to dry it off and get the excess powder off. After that problem was solved. Now the smooth sides where your books or items go in between had no residue to begin with. There is no worry about it rubbing off unless there is a little indent. Mine have one spot on each of them where it has kind of a hole or indent. Personally, I think it makes it look cool, but that is where some excess power hides. It doesn't rub off on anything, I already tested it. So washing them with water quickly solves the blue powder problem.Secondly, I read about how some were smaller than expected. I orders the 5-6 lbs ones. When I lifted the box, It felt correct. Then I realized that the 5-6 lbs measurement was a total measurement of the bookends. Therefore take the weight and divide it by half and that is what the individual end is. For me, 5-6 lbs was perfect. I am a college student, looking for cute bookends that would hold multiple binders containing loose-leaf books. The 5-6 lbs bookends passed the test.Next, I saw that people received bookends of different sizes. For me, yes the bookends are not identical, but I received bookends of relatively the same size. One is slightly smaller but I wouldn't say they are different sizes. I love the uniqueness of each bookend because they are not exactly the same, but they flow and still match overall.Lastly, my overall comment. After looking at stores, they were all just smooth. What I like about these is if you look under neath them, there are four rubber-like balls on each bookend to prevent sliding. For me, my desk is wood and so the balls stick really well, allowing me to use a smaller weighted bookend and it be really successful. I found that very unique and wasn't actually expecting. I also ordered the "green" color. I don't know if it is my vision or something, but this looks no where near green. To me the picture looked like a dark blue and what I received in the mail was the exact same dark blue in the image. Since the image showed the same thing, I was not surprised at all. The color is beautiful to me.I would recommend this product because although you have to wash them, it takes two minutes and the end product is amazing. They really look well on my desk and I get complements on them every time people come visit me. I gave this product 4 stars because the powder is something I didn't wish to do, but it is in no means a deal breaker. I was very pleased.

As you can see I selected pink but it is lovely but unfortunately just on the left and the pink dye is absent from the right except for the middle. I called the number provided but it said they were busy but I don’t believe it is a viable number so not helpful there. It definitely looks lopsided. I don’t want to go through a return but I don’t understand why they would have sent this out to a customer looking like this so that is disappointing. No quality control so can’t use them as bookends and will need to just use as decorative pieces apart. Be aware before you order this item you may be sent this.

The media could not be loaded.  Arrived QUICKLY, well wrapped, and ONE of them is beautiful. Unfortunately, the other one is very OBVIOUSLY broken nearly in half and wouldn't hold up ANY books, let alone several. BUT I am working with the seller to correct this issue, so I will update to say hiw well issue is resolved.They are SUPPOSED to be one rock, cut in half and polished, but MINE were OBVIOUSLY not from one rock, but I wouldn't care about that if they were both undamaged. The color is gorgeous, and NO dye/paint/powder/residue of any kind on the rocks or.coming off in my hand. I bought the 3-4 lb set, which would ACTUALLY look more proportionate on a DESK TOP as decor/paper weights than on a shelf as bookends. For use as BOOKENDS I would get either the 4-5 or the 6+ lb set, as it will hold the books better and also look more proprtionate on a shelf or mantel.Again, I will update my review according to how the problem with the one broken end is resolved.*UPDATED: JIC Gem is FANTASTIC. They responded THE SAME DAY to my request for an exchange, only requesting a picture as is completely reasonable, but the more I turned them in my hands to get a proper angle at which to demonstrate the degree of brokenness, I began to really LIKE them just as they are. I decided they are even BETTER than a perfectly matched set, because MIBE have not ONE beautiful face side to display, but THREE beautiful and different face sides to choose from.Regarding their size, I would say the 3-4 lb set each rock is about the size of a grown man's clenched fist. These really are more proportioned for a lovely desktop, and the next size UP would be better for holding books on a shelf. But if just a striking decorative piece is what you are going for, ANY of the weights will be beautiful. I WILL DEFINITELY be buying from JIC Gem again for future unique gifts!

The picture on the site shows the pigment effectively diffused through the stone. While all rock is naturally going to absorb differently, it was easy to tell that the level of care applied to the one I got was not taken to the same degree as what is pictured
