SALT KOSHER BOX 3#, EA, 03-0431 MISC ITEMS CONDIMENTS

I really like using Kosher Salt since each teaspoon contains only 280 mg. sodium(the item to watch for high blood pressure)where as regular table salt has 560 to 940 mg. sodium. I watch the cooks on public tv throw a handful of salt into the pot and I used to cringe! Now I understand how they can do so much salt! It has less and has not yet been salty, or like brine, nor bitter. I recommended it to a retired friend-chef and he had forgotten about Kosher! He is glad that I did remind him. I still have table salt- iodized for the iodine we all need in our diet!

I read about Diamond Crystal salt in a teaching cookbook so I decided to try it out. It's wonderful! It has wonderful flavor but the way the crystals are arranged you can use less than you would with table salt and you get just as much flavor. This creates healthier but just as flavorful meals. I've never bought table salt again! The big size of the box ensures it lasts a long time, giving me time to find more online because it isn't available locally.

I bought this for two purposes. First for cooking - it has a delicate flavor which is excellent. I also use it for cleaning cast-iron cookware. (You use it like a cleansing powder. Use a paper towel to scrub. It soaks up the excess grease and helps scrub off any food. Then wipe clean with a paper towel.) I couldn't be happier with the product.

Diamond Crystal is hard to find where I live... everything is Morten's. Diamond Crystal is so much better...the crystal structure makes it stick to food and it is strongly preferred by the chefs I know. It's way too expensive on Amazon, especially with the shipping. I saw it for less than two dollars a box at Shoprite back in New Jersey. So look for it at your local grocery.

I liked this product because it was my first attempt to eat more healthy. I found it a step up from table salt.

I put musk or vanilla essence from Amazon into jars with some of the salt and mineral oil for a scrub in the shower. let it set for a while to absorb the fragrance

What can I say, it's salt :-) I prefer this brand of kosher salt, doesn't clump and has a clean taste.

There's something about kosher salt that taste different. If you've never tried kosher salt before you're missing a treat to your tastebuds.
