A perfect last expansion to a two+ year journey
Destiny definitely peaked with the Taken King, the DLC that released before The Rise of Iron, but TTK was so good that anything following it wouldn't be as good. This DLC adds a short campaign exploring the Iron Lords of Destiny's past. Those Iron Lords were similar to Blue Team or Noble Team in the Halo Universe and one Iron Lord is the original wielder of Destiny's most sought after exotic, the Gallerjorn. The Iron Banner events in Destiny are also related to the Iron Lords so you can learn about 'why' these competitions are happening in Destiny lore. This expansion also gave access to one of the best raids in the entire Destiny franchise, I'd place this Siva raid above Crota's End, but below the other D1 raids (D1 raids are so polished that being second to last is a huge compliment and many other like this raid more than other raids). One of the coolest parts of the DLC is getting access to the new social space. The icy cap to a mountain setting is beautiful and you get to see some statues of older Iron Lords who come into the story and some of the quests you gain access to after completing the main quest line in this DLC.

More of What You Love, and Then Some
Though it's not entirely my cup of tea anymore, my boyfriend and friends still play Destiny into the Rise of Iron expansion, and all love it as much as the original vanilla game and two additional expansions. It does do a good job of taking the vanilla format that people loved and continuing storylines with even more indepth quests, and the new additions and weapons and such are very nice for fans of the game as well - I just personally lost interest in it after the previous expansion. Haha.

More options, but still falls flat
The original game became flat very quickly. The game was quick to get you to the end game content, and then there wasn't much there. This brought a little more to the table, but it also just falls on a dull note with myself. I do get a chance to start the game back up again with some coworkers who have never played the series before so it should be entertaining for them, and give me something to do while I explain game mechanics.

It's fairly standard: about 5 hours of single player missions if you take your time, a strike, a raid, and pvp. Unless you're big on raids and PvP i'd skip it.

Great But Not the Best
Taken King had more of a focused story to flesh out, and added so many activities. Rise of Iron felt more like a $20 dollar expansion. That 30 dollar price tag is steep for what it provides.

this expansion really didn't add that much fun factor to suck me back into the game
First of all, I'll never pre-order another game through Amazon ... Bungie didn't give us the same stuff as everyone else. Secondly, this expansion really didn't add that much fun factor to suck me back into the game.

Should've pre-ordered direct from Sony instead
I didn't read the description closely enough, so I didn't realize that pre-ordering from Amazon, unlike from just about EVERY OTHER VENDOR, wasn't going to include the weapon skin and sparrow. Amazon eventually gave out a code for the sparrow but not the weapon skin. Not a huge deal, but I could've bought this from just about anyone else for the SAME PRICELesson learnedThe game itself is lots of fun. There are definitely problems, such as problematic servers (much more so than for previous years), and the amount of new content added isn't as much as what people would like. However, the game has tons of replay value. The main problem is that, due to all the whining by people who want everything handed to them immediately, the light leveling system is completely broken. What's wrong with it? The fact that someone can rank up all their characters to the maximum light level while barely playing any of the campaign missions or Raid.I hit 400 on all my characters before playing a single minute of WoTM Raid. A friend has all characters at 400 but has barely played the campaign missions. Also, his characters still don't have all their subclasses unlocked.Reaching max light level should require that all missions have been completed, as well as the Raids and Strikes.Pro:Fun gameLots of replay valueChallenging RaidsLots of content for people who haven't been playing since year 1Con:Too many server problemsNot a lot of new content added for year 3Light leveling is broken

Great DLC
The DLC to destiny was great, and I would buy it over and over again. Destiny 2 did not live up to its expectations like Destiny 1 did.
