Expensive but Works well so far
Out of the 3 scotts seed products I used this was the best one. The yard looks weird now because the ez seed patches are the best looking spots. Used along edges and thin patches from high traction areas. Used along with fresh soil* Took about 3 weeks for it to get going. Overseeding is a must because of all the mulch and fertilizer. It can leave thinner spots if the water/rain moves the seeds but leaves the fertilizer and mulch. Watered Twice daily at the beginning and then a single morning water later once it was sprouted, Drought resistant bag had no seeds sprout. Sun/shade regular mix had like a 45% sprout.

Amazing
Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair is easy to use and convenient for fixing thin or bare areas in the lawn. I like that it works for both sunny and shaded spots, making it versatile for different areas of the yard. The application is simple, and the mix helps cover damaged patches without needing a complicated process. Overall, a practical option for lawn touch-ups and keeping the yard looking fuller.

If you follow instructions it will work
It works if you closely follow the instructions. I bought this since it said it grew in shaded areas. I had a large patch of dirt that needed to regrow grass in an area with very little sunlight. I was hoping I could just sprinkle it on and have some regrow in a couple of weeks. I spread it around and then made sure to water it regularly. After a week I could see some sprouting in areas that got more sun. After another week the areas with growth had a decent density of grass coming through. Other areas I got nothing. So I went back to the empty areas and made sure to follow the instructions on prepping. The empty areas received less sunlight so I knew they would be problematic. After a week I saw some sprouting come through. Another week and have some decent growth. So it will work if you do the prepping and maintenance. I had other spots in my lawn that I just threw some straw on, but these areas aren't so picky. The EZ seed did regrow quicker than the just strawed areas which is what I was hoping for. Is the density and variety of grass perfect? Well it has left some room to be desired. Was it as EZ as advertised? Not exactly as EZ as they make it seem. So I would recommend the product but it would come with some caveats.

Zero Seed Germination
VERY DISAPPOINTED! Over a period of 2 months I used this container 3 times in the same areas several weeks apart and watered appropriately. No seed germinated at all, and I first prepared each the areas with fresh topsoil. I’ve used the product before and it has worked, but I believe those were bought at local Home Depot and Lowe’s. I am suspicious that Scott’s ships an inferior product to Amazon, which retails $5 or more cheaper than at Home Depot or Lowe’s, but it’s not worth the time and effort if the seed doesn’t germinate.

Best Grass Seed!!!
I had a dead spot in my yard towards a back alley that never grew. Been over 20 years never had grass on it. Nothing ever grew there no matter what I did. Until, I found Scotts EZ Seed. The day I got the product in the mail, I went out to the alley where my dead spot in my yard is. 1st, I raked the dirt with a metal rake. 2, I sprinkled the Scotts EZ Seed all over it. 3, I watered the spot. Make sure not to have it soaked to the point it pools everywhere. After the 1st day of watering, I Watered once in the morning and once in the late afternoon. Within 10 days, The whole dead spot was covered in grass!!! But, You have to water it at least twice a day for it to really work. Overall I highly recommend Scotts EZ Seed it truly grows anywhere!!!

Shake Shake Shake
The product has one hidden downfall: There are two components, grass seed and clay. Over time, one settles out. BEFORE you spread the seed, shake to canister to remix the components. Edit: I have been having poor results in some areas with no grass shoots. I shook the container and poured it into a bowl. Imagine my surprise, it was all clay and very little seed. Checked a competely new container and same results. No ware on the container does it give you a ratio of clay to seed.

Only thing that’s worked for me
I’ve used this at three different homes and it’s a little expensive but you have more to worry about… just water it in the beginning extensively and it’ll fill in with minimal effort.
